Interesting, never thought of it like that. Effective on January 1st, immediately.

It's a sad day when ND fans think the Champs Sports Bowl is not that junky.killer_ewok;580609 wrote:Crist got hurt vs. Michigan and missed a quarter and half of the game. When he was in the game, ND's offense did very well against Michigan. When Tommy Rees and Nate Montana went in due to his injury, they turned the ball over and couldn't do squat.
Also, who's arguing that ND is better than OSU? And if ND heads to the Champs Sports Bowl...that's not that junky of a bowl. Miami(FL) played Wisconsin in that bowl last year.

Only in South Bend..
lol, ya, ok...I am sure UM didn't haev a single player hurt either. Shit OSU lost a handful of starters on defense as the season went on at one time or another. Its football, injuries are part of the game.karen lotz;580599 wrote:ND was a full strength for the Michigan game? Maybe for the first drive when they went down the field and scored. If you remember, Crist couldn't see out of one of his eyes after that opening scoring drive and ND turned to a true freshman QB and then Nate Montana for the rest of the first half where the offense sputtered. Rudolph came into the season hobbled by his hamstring injury and ND had a starting safety out after injuring his ankle against Purdue.
also, it would be you're good or you are good, not your.
No offense but outside of Wisconsin and well that's about it, OSU's schedule wasn't as good as 60th or whatever its ranked.

On top of that, as BAD, BAD, BAD as the UM defense was and is....freaking Rudy should have QB's ND to 30+ points in that game!

killer_ewok;580622 wrote:Again, Wisconsin played in that Bowl last year vs. Miami(FL). And you've been singing Wisky's praises this year. Maybe ND can use that bowl game as a springboard for a more successful 2011 campaign. Wisconsin sure did.
Good post and I don't think any ND fan is saying anything different.vball10set;580667 wrote:the dynasty, yours is prolly the most lucid post on this thread...ND's going bowling, and they've won three games in a row--if nothing else, it's something to build on. BK's got them moving in the right direction, and, IMO, that's all you can ask of a first year coach.

sleeper;580663 wrote:Yeah except Wisconsin won the bowl game, something ND won't accomplish if they play anyone half as good as Miami. And even if ND does win, Wisconsin is 100x better than ND. If they played, no doubt in my mind Wisconsin puts up 70+ and has their 2nd string in by half.
and I'm not sure where it was stated that any "Domer" argued otherwise--my post was aimed at those non-Domers who did. I'm a Brian Kelly fan, and a ND fan as well--I think they got a winner with himkiller_ewok;580681 wrote:LOL. You missed my point entirely. Nevermind.
And I think what dynasty said is spot on. As Karen said, not sure which of us "Domers" is arguing otherwise.

I just wonder how the off the field stuff factors into Kelly's "approval rating"?
I will say there is a reason to be optimistic heading into next year, as a ND fan.
100% correct about???dlazz;580679 wrote:sleeper probably deserved being called out because he's a douchebag, but Skyhook is 100% correct.
thedynasty1998;580656 wrote:Yea, why is OSU being compared to ND? I read most of this thread and really don't understand it. Notre Dame probably overachieved this year, given the talent on the roster and injuries. Does it make it a good year, by ND standards? No. But it's a solid year, nonetheless. Not sure why it has to be discounted.

Given the schedule they played, the injuries they suffered, the off field issues (camera man death, rape charges), and having a new coach 7-5 is pretty impressive. It isn't up to the historical standards of Notre Dame, but it is impressive given where they have been this past decade (especially during the previous several seasons under Weis).
And I'm not sure why people are comparing ND and OSU anyway. The interesting thing is that it's OSu fans that felt the need to bring it up. Notre Dame fans are well aware of the fact that they aren't as good as OSU is and that it's been that way for at least a decade. It's like a bully picking on the poor kid to make himself feel better.

Those were all starters and key players/contributors. That's A LOT to overcome in one season under a new head coach and I think you're smart enough to realize that and maybe objective enough to admit it.
