It really can't be disputed that at this point in the season, Boise has played a tougher schedule than Ohio State. Once the season plays out, OSU's schedule will likely be tougher.

But let's not pretend like OSU is playing a great schedule. Miami might finish anywhere from 1st to 4th in the ACC. Wisconsin's big win is Arizona State and they lost to Michigan State. Iowa's big win is a bad Penn State (or Iowa State) and a loss to Arizona.

I'm not saying the Big 10 is bad, but there is a lot that needs to be proven before we give Wisconsin and Iowa the respect that many want to give them.

You don't get credit for SOS until the games are played. So wins vs Marshall, OU, and Eastern don't really do much. It doesn't take into account who you will play. If Ohio State beats Wisky, there SOS will improve dramatically and they will debut in the poll probably at 2ish, maybe 3 at worst.

While what fans value a win/loss in a bowl game is meaningless, how voters see things is relevant. You can say "last year shouldn't be a factor in this years voting" but the reality is that voters keep it in mind. It's no different than saying "Well Ohio State has been slapped around by SEC's top tams in past years so they don't deserve the title shot." Two way street people, can't have it both ways.

This is no big deal...if OSU is ranked number one in both polls and is undefeated at the end of the season....there is no chance of them not being in the top 2. Anyone that doesn't believe me...really doesn't understand football. If the apocolypse happens and they aren't.....the system itself will be shut down...The Big Ten will withdraw from the BCS and take with it the Rose Bowl and the PAC 10.

The Big Ten is politically the strongest conference in America.

You have to realize that Teams like Boise are going to have a harder schedule to this point. This gives them a huge edge in the computer polls. However the total strength of schedule is not decided until the end of the season as far as the computer polls are concerned. Any undefeated team in the big10 big12 SEC or PAC10 team would jump a team like Boise when it is all said and done.

Where are they going to go if they don't play within the BCS??

Contrary to what you people believe,Ohio State doesn't run the Big 10 or the Rose Bowl. The PAC-10 wouldn't go anywhere,they would laugh their asses off at Ohio State,as would most of the Big 10

you haters are dumbasses. Arizona is easily a top 3 team in the PAC 10. Just like Iowa is a top 3 team in the Big 10. Arizona lost the tie breaker against oregon last year for the Pac 10 championship. Arizona is a pretty good team and it wasnt a bad loss for Iowa or the big 10

Arizona is a good team and Iowa also played them at night on the west coast.

Cool your jets people. OSU 100% Absolutely Positively gets in if they go undefeated. Right now their opponents have only won 13 games! That is the only computer factor that is keeping them out. Take care of business and the businees will take care of you.

This who beat who arguement is bullshit. Some teams get better as seasons goes on, some don't, some deal with serious injuries that limit them, where the game is played, matchup issues, etc, etc. NOBODY said Iowa was a "juggernaut" btw!! That comment right there tells me a certain someone is clueless hater doing nothing but exaggerating to try and make things look worse than they actually are. Let the season play out a little longer at the very least before this discussion should even begin. Hell, last year after OSU lost to Purdue, the sky was falling. Looked how the season ended. Shit happens on any given Sat. game.

I didn't say Ohio St would withdraw...I said the Big 10. This would not be about OSU. Look at your history...the only group not a part of the Bowl Coalition....PAC 10/Big 10/Rose Bowl. Without that group, the BCS never is put into existence. The Big Ten is the main reason there is no playoff. IF the Big Ten wanted it, there would be a playoff.

Like Coach Tressel said, the polls change so much from week to week that the top 10 is probably going to look a lot different at the end of the season than it does now. Much like it looks different now than it did at the beginning of the season.

It's pretty much a fact that Ohio State controls their own destiny. If they win out, they will be in the national championship. They probably won't drop from #1 in the polls if they win out, and wins over teams like Wisconsin, Iowa, and probably even Michigan will give them more points than anyone Boise or TCU has left on their schedule (though it's a shame that OSU doesn't play Michigan State because that would've led to even more points). Plus you never know who's going to lose along the way. Oregon, Oklahoma, and Nebraska all have losable games left and though I don't think Boise or TCU will lose, they already played the teams that will give them the most BCS points.

With that said, I am concerned about how little the human polls play into the BCS formula. It's bad enough that these teams don't decide who's the best on the field in a playoff, but for the number 1 team in both polls by a wide margin being 5th in the projected BCS is ridiculous. I'm not at all concerned though since the real BCS standings don't come out for a few more weeks.

They haven't, actually. Boise still has Nevada, Hawaii, and Fresno with solid OOC records that will help them and TCU still has Utah and Air Force. I don't think it'll be enough to keep/move either ahead of OSU by the end of the season, but there are still some money games for them when it comes to the computers. At first glance, it seems as though Boise is in better shape than TCU as the WAC is right around .500 OOC, which is better than they typically are. The MWC is down, even for second tier standards. A couple things are going to work against OSU - the three non-Miami games are going to balance Boise's terrible bottom conference games and if Michigan State continues to beat teams on OSU's schedule that'll hurt OSU's overall schedule strength.

Wow, feeling a bit defensive? But since you replied, then please tell me WHO said Iowa was some "juggernaut"? Are they great? Not a this point. But again, they returned A LOT from last years team, who ended up being pretty darn good.
