not an idea to boost traffic, but maybe a quality improvement:

make "no thread shitting" a rule.

now that we have 2 societies, dlazz (although dlazz is usually better, but recently he's started this pretty bad), sleeper, tiernan, and several others that seemingly do a lot of thread shitting that leads to a lot of pissing matches, it needs to be nipped in the bud.

it's not a problem for me. but so many times people mention new members being deterred by many of the people in my first post who thread shit 75% of the time. It was a suggestion to improve the site, not for me personally to enjoy/use it more.

justin, can you make the ignore list default to having said "thread shitters" on there, then let new users figure it out for themselves if they want to unblock them? Similar to the swear filter?
