Teach at a private school, and I wish I had half the opportunities these kids have.

The education we give our students is top notch. There is a culture of higher education that exists far beyond what most public schools have. There is a sense of belonging and like it or not some aspects of elitism that allow our students to gain better summer employment positions, create social and career networks that surpass their public school peers, and build lasting friendships that carry with them into fraternity and sorority houses and in to boardrooms.

Many of our students have the opportunity to do much more hands on learning, learn how to interact with adults in a peer to peer basis, gain greater public speaking experience, are more visible in their community through student organizations, and are given an individualized education plan.

I am unsure what the private schools are like in Bellefontaine and the public schools for that matter. I can only give my seal of approval for my area private schools. This comes in spite of the fact I am public school educated through high school.

Culture and environment are the biigest reason's I see people choosing private education.

Real Schools call it the JV League? LMFAO. There have been many occasions where the SMALL schools have beaten the bigger schools. I wonder how it feels to lose to JV teams.

Private vs. public really depends on the individual schools you're comparing. Both Exeter and Bob Jones Baptist are both private, but they're private for very different reasons and in very different ways. Without knowing the exact schools, it's really tough to say what makes the most sense.

Mrs. FFT went to a public high school that was better than virtually every private high school in the country, but that's because it was in a rich suburb with high property taxes (greater than 2% of assessed value, so most people were paying $10k+ each year in property taxes). Yet 30 minutes down the road you run into Milwaukee Public Schools, yet you couldn't be any further apart academically/socioeconomically, etc. Private vs. public in a vacuum is tough to determine, so it really depends on specifics.

I went to private all the way through high school and I loved it. But that could be because I never really knew what public school was like. I got a house in Perrysburg since it is the only highly ranked school district in Ohio from the NW area of the state besides the Sylvania schools. I plan on sending my kids to public school to take advantage of the good school district that I live in. If I lived in Holland for example, I would make sure I could afford to send my kids to private school so that they could get a worhtwhile education.

^^Ottawa Hills is fantastic too in NW Ohio. Oregon is a zoo but there are opportunities. Maumee can't be too shabby. I'd rank them:

So many gross generalties being tossed about here, that it serves as an indictment of your own education.

It most certainly depends upon the individual schools being compared. There are great public schools and there are great private schools...and there are poor ones also. If dollars are no object, then your choice should be made upon which is better for your child. A private school might be better if the schools environment/philosophy is close to yours. Public schools are what they are. Dpending on where you live and your school system, you may or may not want your child in that PARTICULAR public school environment.....in which you may want to spend the extra money on a private school that more closely provides the learning environment that you want your child in.

I will disagree with some who don't think early childhood schooling is as important as Mid/high school. Establishing a good reading and math foundation is critical. To me...I would make my choice upon that.

Im sure you know me and would guess if you kept going. Chris actually followed me to Indiana (for track). I just saw Heather about a month ago and Delence Shears couldve been a division 1 basketball player if he wasnt such an idiot with how he went about his life. Which Anspach? And Sal Valone...haha what a character. I just saw his brother the other day, Sal is out in LA working on movies. Now your updated on all the people you mentioned lol.

haha I was well aware, those were just the people I knew from '05. Chris Sackmann is just an athletic freak. It's unreal to think what he'd have done at MV if he ever had a strength program.

Wife and I both went to public schools (met there) and as of now the plans are public for our kids. Our school district is currently Washington Local (Toledo), which is the school system my wife and I were in. We plan to move down the road to a 'better' school district, but since we aren't in Toledo Public (which is bad), we are OK with sending the kids to Washington Local in the earlier years....Heck I'd be fine with it in the later years as well, I turned out alright.

Went to Catholic school 8 yrs and then Public for 4. Public schools prepare kids for the real world better but the discipline of Catholic school makes the little bastards meaner. That's why Parochial schools frequently win more sports crowns...they are inherently tougher kids that will knock the snot out of public school pussies like the ones you find in NE Ohio where skank resides.

I think what everyone has learned from the last few posts on this topic is that there are douche bags that come from public schools, and douche bags that come from private schools. Like has been said numerous times on here...if you live in a good school district, public schools are probably going to be fine. If you live in a shitty district, the private schools are worth taking a look at. Only you know what is best for your kid.

You mean like bringing in QB's from Oregon on recruiting trips?.......nevermind......that was a public school that did that. Most schools in Ohio are open enrollment, so they have the same boundaries as any private school.
