I absolutely enjoyed this movie, and the more I think about it, the more I love it and want to see it again. I do think the whole movie was a dream. One thing that made me think that was how quickly everyone moves from one place to the next. Cobb keeps referring to the notion of not remembering how you got somewhere, and to me there was never clear when exactly they arrive in each new place. Of course that could be just me interpreting things my own way. I also think it is possible, that his wife is alive, and she may have been trying to rescue him, but Leo was so lost in his dream state that he didn't know what reality was anymore.

I will have to see it again and give it more thought.

I don't think this is true. there was never any indication at all during the movie that she could have been still alive. I think you're looking for reasons to make the movie TOO complicated.

Just got back. My mind is literally numb from watching that movie. Absolutely incredible. Visually it was so superior to Avatar it's laughable. Plus, this movie was completely original and awesome. It made Avatar look like...The Black Knight.

Anyone else think he may have been dreaming the whole time. Im not even sure I do...but the fact that he didnt have his own (Constant...I forget what they called it in the movie) and had his wifes...the top....was a little strange to me. Why didnt he have his own???

Also, we see Cobb "rescure" Saito from limbo at the very end. It was the start of the film as well, and at the start they were able to come out of the dream and the "job" was presented to them. If anyone can explain this to me I would be grateful!!

Are you implying that the beginning of the movie he was in limbo, and they cut to the next scene (extraction of Saito's secret) which was just going further into limbo?

Im not really sure what Im saying lol. Just that the opening scene they were trying to extract the secret from Saito (or so it seemed) and they all came out of the dream while on the train. But then at the end, Cobb is on that same beach, and it was presumed he was in Limbo from how Ariadne left him, but this time he isnt extracting from Saito....he is rescuing him. That whole thing was just confusing to me.

Just got back from seeing Inception this morning. A couple of thoughts.

First and foremost Inception is a monumental achievement of conception. Hollywood is an old town and truly genuine and unique ideas come around very, very rarely. Inception is the exception that crops up every decade or so. Usually when you see a movie with a truly novel premise the concept isn't fully utilized. It becomes a frame upon which the filmmakers hang auxiliary concepts familiar to the average movie goer, the love interest, the villain, the hero's journey and so on and so on to make the new concept more acceptable to the average movie goer. In Inception the idea is paramount, the idea is the story, the idea is genesis and everything else in the film radiates outward from the idea. That is something that you don't see everyday

Most movies don't challenge their viewers. Among the few that do most of them do it in over the top ways. Think of the Saw series which challenges viewers, but does it in the most obtuse manor possible. Inception on the other hand presents its idea in a very straight forward manor, with no exposition or explanation from the characters and brings the audience along as it takes an already challenging and novel concept and twists and bends and contorts it in unpredictable and often unforgettable ways. Saw seeks to create a visceral reaction among its audience and the entire series is constructed around eliciting that response. Inception on the other hand has no intention to create a specific reaction among its viewers, it just aims to construe a reaction without really caring what it is. I hate to keep harping on this fact but Hollywood doesn't let people make these types of movies. Thank god Nolan built up all that capital with the Dark Knight so that he was able to cash it in for this.

Lastly Chris Nolan can literally do no wrong at this point. He had done period pieces, true crime stories, comic book movies and done them all exceptionally well. And now, when left to his own devices he comes up with this. Easily the best director going right now.

If I had one critique about this movie (and let me tell you, I LOVED this movie, which is a masterpiece), it is that they didn't spend time really delving into how Cobb (or anyone) figured out and perfected this method of entering into dreams. Or did they? That movie blew my mind, so maybe it did happen and I totally missed it.

they didn't explain origins of the science and I think that was a great executive decision by Nolan. It allowed the idea to stand as is, rather than introducing an explanation of the mechanics of the process, which would have diluted some of the effectiveness of the gambit for the viewers. Some movies that go in depth explaining their core concepts through narration or exposition end up killing the believability of those concepts. They basically end up poking holes in their own stories.

They said something about the military creating the process to give their soldiers a chance to "kill" in dreams.

I kind of liked it that way. Most movies you have the long backstory and the movie then revolves around that character. I loved that this film was soley, and I mean literally only about the concept of dreams. It would have diluted it a bit for me if they tried to instill anything else. I mean, they had the whole thing as Cobb wanting to get back to his kids, but they didnt go into that backstory at all, just used at as the means to get to the end.

This. Couldn't have said it any better myself. And if this doesn't clean up on Oscar night, it will be the biggest robbery in years. This was EASILY the best movie by far this year. The only movie I can even think of that will be in this year's Oscar group with it that might win something is Iron Man II, which was really good, but not on the same level as this film.

Iron Man II is not exactly a film that should be winning Oscars.

Saw it Friday...AWESOME movie!

The last time I went to the theater was to see G.I. Joe...so, it was nice to get back to an action flick that had real acting..

I watched the Trailer of this Film "Inception" in this site http://www.mtjunkie.org/inception-2010-07-13/ then i watched it in theater...The story sounds very interesting & cinematography is cool and pleasant....He has given a movie that has his stamp in the form of an Thrilling and engrossing screenplay ..
