I think Hardy Heron was my first go at Ubuntu.

yeah, the phenom is a great processor and 180 bucks is not too shabby for something that powerful.

I don't doubt it's a great processor. I do doubt that it's worth the $100+ premium for my needs.

Yeah but what is the onboard video chip on that? If it's Intel you might want to get a discrete card even for media purposes. Edit: Just saw it has the 4250 chip which should be plenty good to push media. And the MB has USB 3.0 which is sweet as shit. Or candy or something.

Also, why the hell aren't you buying the processor OEM?

And hopefully that PSU was cheap because of the rebate because usually Fatality things are horrifically over priced.

The PSU is normally $84, instant rebate of $20, mail-in rebate of $20.

That same memory is on sale at meritline today for $88.99. I am thinking of grabbing it now.

I hate a-data. if it was MINE, i'd get G-skill.

switch out your RAM with this (it's $1 more):

G Skill

switch out your DVD drive with this (it's $1 cheaper, and higher rated):

ASUS

Here's a cheap case for you (with good ratings):

Cooler Master

Total build: $507.92

Just looked up the OEM version of the processor. It's $8 less but no combo deal on the mobo.

Original Equipment Manufacturer = OEM...

I.E. Dell/Gateway/Sony/Whoever would buy OEM parts and then throw them into computers. They normally come without a warranty and without the box.

OEM processors come with only the processor. No heatsink/fan, also no warranty.

Green drives are slow, BTW. I don't know you'd notice though.

Also, there's no case.
