2:20pm start again.
Arroyo vs Dempster.
Dempster is having another great year but the Reds fared pretty well against him the 1 time they faced him.

Gotta go with the Reds.
St Louis lost again tonight to another bad team. What's going on with them?

I've never been a fan. Dude should never step foot back into Cincinnati's clubhouse, he is that bad. A left handed specialist who can't get lefties out and can't throw any harder than 84.

Lead is back up to a game in a half now. Put together some wins, paired with the way the Cards are playing; this lead could get to 4-5 games easily.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves about the lead.
Narveson vs Garcia - Big advantage St. Louis
Parra vs Carpenter - Big advantage St. Louis
Gallardo vs Wainwright - Pretty even
So there is a good chance the Cardinals win 2 of the next 3, so the Reds can't slip up. They must also win 2 of 3 in Chicago. Also, the Cardinals go to Coors next week and they likely MISS Ubaldo Jimenez.

I wasn't saying it was going to continue, just noticing that the Dbacks (who fired their manager) and the lowly Brewers have been beating them.

Garcia, Carpenter, and Wainwright are going this weekend so I wouldn't count on a continued slide. I'd be happy going into the break tied with the Cards even with the 1.5 game lead but a few game lead sure would be nice.

The Brewers and Diamondbacks can hit, but neither can pitch, in-fact, I think outside of the Pirates and Orioles, those two have the worst pitching in MLB. If their pitchers can somehow stay in the game against STL, they can win, because Milwaukee when healthy can really put up runs. In the last 8 games (not counting the 8-0 win over ARI last week), the Cards have scored a total of 20 runs against KC, MIL, TOR and ARI, 4 of the top 8 worst pitching teams in MLB. The amazing thing is, Rasmus, Pujols and Holliday have all been hitting fairly well. However, losing David Freese hurts and Molina, Schumaker, Lopez and Ryan have all stunk big time.
This is where the Reds are better than the Cardinals. You can argue that Pujols, Holliday and Rasmus are comparable thus far to Votto, Rolen and Gomes, but the Reds also have Bruce, Phillips, the catcher combo, and the Cards really only have Ludwick and Freese (who are very comparable to Phillips and Bruce, but not as good). However, from the catcher spot (Hanigan + Hernandez), bench and even Stubbs (run production) has far out-performed what St. Louis has gotten.

no clue, but on baseball reference you can see the record by each month for every year, or the first 81 game record for each year.

Not necessarily. Thursday's game against the Cards would be on Ubaldo's regular rest. Question is will they skip someone's start with an off-day Monday.

Given that he's gonna be the all-star starter as well, it may factor into whether they throw him. The Rockies have played well lately and they really have no reason to skip someone in the rotation.

The All-Star Game would put him on regular rest as well. So in my mind they HAVE to start Ubaldo on thursday because its either thursday or friday and I'd imagine you'd want to play it safe and keep him on regular rest. BTW that would have him starting against the Reds in the sunday game after the ASG.
