Not only that, but ESPN airs soccer that has NOTHING to do with the United States. They had the rights to broadcast English Premiere League games as well as the UEFA Champions League, I do believe. Why do they do this? Because it has a ratings benefit to it. Ratings is profit because they sell ad space.
This isn't that hard to understand, whether or not you want to believe it, Soccer has a pretty decent sized following here in America, and it's not just for the USMNT.
The sooner you realize this, the better off you'll be.
