Uhhh, no it's NOT "a wash." I believe the Tribe was one or two outs away from being World Champions in 97 when Joe Table had his meltdown. The Cavs were swept in 4 straight the only time Lebron got them there. Not EVEN close.

Not as close, but the finals are the finals. Plus, how many people on here this year were sold that the Cavs were just going to run through the playoffs without a challenge.

It doesn't matter if he got them to the Finals. The Cavs got steam rolled by the Spurs. If it were a 7 game series and the Spurs won game 7 on a buzzer beater, you might have an argument. The Tribe was so close I think they already had champagne set up in the locker room.

Let me preface my response to this question by stating I am probably one of the biggest Cleveland sports fans around. I recognize that I take this shit entirely too seriously, but it is who I am. The Cavs are probably #3 on my list of Cleveland teams (mainly because I am not a big fan of NBA basketball), but I would go nuts if they were to bring a ‘ship to this city. The passion (or stupidity possibly) that the fans in this city has is 2nd to none. I could only imagine the celebration when a team brings home the big trophy. I am barely old enough to remember The Drive, The Fumble & The Shot but I can hardly watch the TV everytime the Cleveland Sports “montage” is shown at the end of every disappointing ending to a season. The Mesa blown save still burns, and I was in attendance for every playoff game in Cleveland for the collapse to the Red Sox. All those moments should be enough to make you leave Cleveland sports for good, but it’s not. I can remember how great it was walking out of CBS in 2007 with the Browns going 7-1 at home that year. The energy during that season was amazing and the team didn’t even make the playoffs. The atmosphere surrounding the Q and the Cavs the last 7 years has been remarkable.

What burns me the most about LBJ, besides the fact that he basically quit on his team in game 5 is that through his actions he has more or less said, “Cleveland, NE Ohio and your fans are not good enough for me” Other than being from Akron, he is not one of us. He shows up at a Tribe playoff game rocking a Yankees hat. A Browns game with Cowboy gear, on the ‘Boys sideline. Stating the hated Chicago Bulls who ripped out the hearts of NE Ohio were his favorite team and #1 villain Michael Jordan was his favorite player. The same fans he expects to be there every night cheering him on and buying his shit, he can’t even pretend to stand “shoulder-to-shoulder” with and support the same teams. Instead he rubs it in our face, and even shows up and roots for the opposition. He is a fair weather fan, his favorite teams are all the teams that won during his youth. They are probably the teams that all Cleveland fans despise the most in all sports, excluding the Stillers. What do you expect him to do when things look a little shaky here in Cleveland, stay and try to fight through and win a ‘ship for Cleveland? Or leave and go play with one of his boys in Chicago, or in the Mecca of basketball? If he couldn’t commit long term to this team when things were going great the last 2 years and ownership and the city is bending over backwards to please him, why is he going to this July when other situations might look better than the roster here in Cleveland that is partially his fault. How could the Cavs try to build for the future the last 7 years when LBJ refuses to make a commitment to the franchise? They had to try to get as good as possible as fast as possible and did a heck of a job. If what they did is not good enough for him and he leaves he will only be behind Art Modell on my list of disliked athletes. He will be worse than Belle, Thome & Ramirez. The whole Boozer deal is mind boggling to me still. Everyone involved in that situation should never be allowed back in Cleveland, but still under LBJ if he leaves. Lebron is the best player on my favorite NBA team, and I will cheer for him while he is on the Cavs roster. If he signs this July with Cleveland (which I do not expect) I will continue to support him. I will also continue to cheer on the Cavs if he decides to leave, just the same as I did when he was here, and before he arrived. I will cheer for him to continue to have great success in the regular season, then hope he quits on his team in the playoffs like he did this year, because that is the lasting image I will have of him if he does not return to play for this city.

Here's the mother fucking problem with Lebron:

He cares about fame. Nothing more, nothing less. He says he cares about basketball but his actions have spoken an entirely different tune.

That's what separates him and Kobe, and the reason I would take Kobe and Wade over Lebron RIGHT NOW if it were possible.

Kobe and Wade have an assassin mentality. They don't want to lose. They'd rather die than lose. They play the game to win championships, to be the best. Lebron plays the game to gain more and more fame to generate more and more money.


So Lebron may be a more talented player at this point in Kobe's career, but Kobe is a better basketball player right now, someone I'd want on my team more than Lebron. Kobe would have never let Game 5 happen.

So you are saying, shame on Lebron for not supporting your in state teams? I'm sure he feels bad for not doing enough for the city of Cleveland.

It's posts like that that make me think Cavs fans don't deserve him. So what he likes the Yankees and Cowboys? The guy sees the bigger picture, and that's that there is a world outside of Cleveland.

I will, and I won't feel bad about it. I am a casual fan and I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I don't take any team too serious. I root for the Cavs, but enjoy watching good basketball over shitty basketball. If Lebron goes to Chicago, like I said before, they will be 1000X more fun to watch than Jamison and Mo Williams.

Does he need to buy season tickets to the Browns and Indians? Hell, no. But it is a slap in the face that a hometown kid shows up and openly roots against the same fans he is expecting to cheer him on. I have no problem with people questioning Lebron for his game 5 performance, but his career in Cleveland was more than that one game. He carried that team for his entire career and they couldn't make any moves to really help him out.

First off, he chose to attend Ohio State, unlike Lebron who was picked by the Cavs. Both talked about winning a championship this year, and failed to accomplish that ultimate goal. Both are leaving without accomplishing what they set out to accomplish. Turner is leaving school early to pursue a better life for himself and his family. Is Lebron not doing the same thing? He's trying to put himself in the best possible situation for him to grow and success personally and professionally.

I think the fair weather Cleveland fans who have only supported this team since Lebron are the ones going to be most irate if he leaves simply because they'll feel more betrayed than someone who follows them closely.

Another reason I think the whole Lebron situation is magnified is simply because of the lack of a championship with soooo many close calls.

I said this on another thread, I refuse to pay attention to any rumors, I'm just going to wait and see what happens.

Hypothetically if Lebron were to pair up with Bosh and Rose in Chicago I would certainly tune into a lot more Bulls games and definitely root for them as my third team (Thunder are my second) simply because of the reason you stated, you're an NBA fan as well as a fan of a specific team.

I would be a lot more upset if the Cavs could reasonably find a way to get Bosh but somehow couldn't.

No, because Turner had essentially the same decision last year (except lottery pick vs. top 2) and tried to come back for one more chance to win a championship. Also, Turner has shown undying devotion towards OSU (just look at his Scarlet and Gray outfit yesterday) but jumped at a chance for much greater pastures.

I think it's different because you're talking about Turner making a career move from the jr. NBA to the big leagues, whereas you're talking about Lebron just changing teams, and it's hard to know for sure the economic difference between staying in CLE and playing elsewhere.

I would have been pissed if Evan Turner came out and transferred to North Carolina or Duke because "they gave him a better chance to win a title" and more importantly it would make his job easier and he could sell more shoes and t-shirts.
