When heralded football signee Seantrel Henderson from Cretin-Derham Hall didn't show up as scheduled last week for orientation at the University of Southern California, new coach Lane Kiffin, recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron, offensive line coach James Cregg and top assistant Monte Kiffin took a private jet to the Twin Cities on Monday to make sure the 6-foot-8, 330-pound left tackle still was committed.
In the wake of NCAA penalties to USC that include no bowl appearances for the next two seasons, as well as the loss of 30 scholarships over the next three years, there has been conjecture that Henderson has reconsidered his commitment to USC and that Miami and Ohio State could be back in the hunt.
Reached Tuesday, Henderson's father, Sean, had no comment, and Seantrel, who some day could be a first-round NFL draft pick, did not return phone messages.

I'm hearing he wants a release from Kiffin because he was lied to. Miami is my bet, maybe after a year of prep school if Kiffy doesn't get his bags of money returned.

He was lied to?? No way!!! Not buying it!! :D

When Petey abandoned ship, it should've been clear to all recruits what was going to happen.

I really think USC was caught by surprise what the NCAA came down on them with, and I'm sure Kiffin was telling recruits that it wasn't a big deal.

So, yes, I think he very well might have been lied to.

I don't blame him one bit for wanting a release, if this is indeed true. No reason for him to face the consequences of what others before him did.

Can you really blame this kid for not wanting to go to USC after the borderline death penalty they were given? However I think he's going to have to sit for a year because I just do not see scumbag Kiffin granting this kid a release.

Here's a real question for Buckeye fan's would you really want Seantral Henderson and the baggage that comes with him (his father). I look for him to go to Miami thought if he does get his release though. I can't see is old an being content with his kid playing at OSU.

Absolutely you take Henderson in Columbus. He might have some baggage, but honestly I think it's been blown out of proportion.

I don't blame him for wanting his release, but he should have known bad things were coming for USC. I won't cry for him if he has to sit a year.

Unless he has raised his test scores (which I doubt) he doesn't academically qualify to play for OSU or anywhere else in the Big Ten. He would be forced to go to a conference with lower standards, I don't know about Miami but he does qualify to attend a SEC school.

I'd be willing to be big bucks Tress hasn't been in contact with the young man. When JT moves on, he moves on -- and if this guy can't even qualify to walk through the door, the OSU staff is not going to be wasting their time at this stage of the game.

Tress can't contact him until he is out of his scholly right? I am guessing Ohio State would be in hot water if they tried contacting him now.

Whether or not Kiffin lied to him isn't the point at this time, the perception he leaves behind is. He has two options of course, release him and look like the good guy who understands the kids desires and goals, or not release him. Question is, what would be the perception left behind? If he lets him out of it to me it looks like he was lied to. Probably not something a first year head coach wants hanging over his head, though by the time USC is relevant again, it may not matter. If you stick to your guns, it looks like "Hey, we came clean with the dude, why he wants out is a mystery to us."

Personally, I think ole' Lane lied. He's a fucking scumbag in my book, and any recruit that falls for his bullshit and signs at USC deserves what they get. Pappy Henderson was pivotal in this whole mess and should be ashamed to have been riding his son's coattails to LA. Fuck 'em both.

If I'm Ohio State, fuck you Santreal and Pappy. You don't want Ohio State can offer, had you wanted it, you would have chosen the Bucks first. A lot of people would welcome you with open arms, Ohio State sells it's program, it's tradition, it's academics and the Big 10. To me taking this kid at OSU cheapens the shit out of it. Whether or not you think OSU is what they claim to be and the perception they like to present isn't the point. that's how they market themselves (Jim Tressel style). Follow your marketing and tell this kid and his dad to go get bent.

IMO of course

From just what i've been reading it doesn't sound like Seantrel could get into tOSU even if he wanted to. Good luck wherever he ends up. Hopefully he turns out to be all world on day.

As for the guy that basically said F him he didn't chose us the first time, etc. Kinda hard on the kid consider their are other great programs besides tOSU. Try growing up in Minny where you probably followed other teams when wanting to watch big time college football. Now go out to USC on a recruiting trip with the girls, sun, etc. Yea I guess you're right, F him why would he chose USC over tOSU?

JT is also about teaching people how to make good decisions and helping them grow up. If OSU wants the kid and he wants to come to OSU it wouldn't be hard to spin it as he made a mistake and now we're going to help him make better decisions. (Like not playing for scum bag cheaters. lol)

What the fuck are you trying to say? Please speak English.

Hobbit,

Sure you could spin it that way, and I wouldn't expect JT not too. Problem is, Santreal's father would make a mockery of it (at least there's a high percentage chance he would). He made himself more than a part of his original decision, there's no reason to think he's going to sit off in the wings and keep his mouth shut now.

Classy my ass. You don't tout yourself as a classy organization and sign a bunch of second rate classLESS individuals, especially the second time around.

I'm not one to bash Tressel for who he brings in, because I do think he values character guys, but Tressel was planning on bringing in Jamel Turner...

I'm just saying you can't bash Henderson for not picking OSU. He felt USC was a better place for him, and you can't blame him for that. Now that everything came down from the NCAA he's reconsidering things, and he should.
