I said it on another thread but I will say it again. I think you gotta blow it up and start over. Trade anybody with value for young guys and picks. Key is to try to bring in as many picks as possible. There appears to be some talent in next years draft from the little that I know about it. It would be ideal if the Cavs had multiple 1st round picks to work with.

the only reason i was against it was i didn't like what they got in return. i realize they did the best they could, and probably the biggest part of me not wanting to do the deal would be to spite LBJ (but i'm spiteful in general), but I think getting the picks would have been enough for me. I'm not sure if they could have renounced LBJ's contract and still traded him via S&T, but to my knowledge the TPE came into play because James is still on the Cavs books for 2010.

I'm in the camp that says basically rebuild from scratch. Find a way to collect as many draft choices as possible, and if there's young talent out there that is worth a gamble, go for it.

Maybe they'll get lucky and acquire a draft pick that nets a star around whom they can rebuild the team.

Difference between Z and LeBron is about 13 years... I don't mind Z going ring chasing now.

He was as loyal as possible, but so were the Cavs to him.

According to Windy the Cavs will begin a full rebuild. He was on NBA TV for the summer league game. It's going to suck but it has to be done

They also don't have much choice.

There's simply not many (any?) options out there.

Lebron handling things the way he did pretty much screwed this franchise by throwing it back to step 1.

Had been a man and been honest about his intentions of leaving, they could have planned for years and made this transition easier.

First summer league game was today. Cavs made an effort to come out running and shot 54% from the field while racking up 88 points (a lot for Summer League since they only play 40 minutes)

Hickson had 18 points and 9 boards. Free agent Pooh Jeter had 17 points and 7 assists. Kid Congo had 13 pts and 2 block shots.

Eyenga is an athletic freak. He had a amazing block today that led to an alley-oop for JJ...

You can definitely tell the Cavs will be running, and doing so A LOT.

They do it on defense though. Then leak out on the breaks.. No more walking the ball up the court.

Danny Green had an impressive first half but an abysmal second. I think he turned the ball over 8-10 times. Eyenga looks good, this year and even last I am impressed with his shooting. Please let me preface this comment that I never think he will be as good of a shooter but the way his jumper looks is similar to Ray Allen's jumper. Their form is at least similar. He definitely has a lot of raw tools to work with and I missed the comment but I guess Byron Scott said he will be in the Cavs rotation next year. I was looking forward to seeing Manny Harris and McCants but I guess we may see them tomorrow as this team ran A LOT today.

I'm excited about the rebuild honestly. I love watching young players develop.

Obviously I'd rather be in title contention, but I trust the Cavs FO so I can live with a down year or two.

I am too. I like the idea of developing young talent as opposed to being handcuffed to bring in aging players to appease one person.

My friend and I were talking about this yesterday. We were obviously blinded by this guy...obviously.. But it's refreshing to not have 3 years to continually turn over the roster to please 1 guy who never delivered anything he promised in the first place.

I'm going to like the ideal of actually building a core of young players, which will definitely include JJ and Eyenga. Eyenga not only has improved his shot, but obviously he's an athletic freak and has all the makings of a great defender.

Ok, first off the article even states that Adam Morrison is WAY down on the Cavs list.

It's also obvious the Cavs are going into a full on rebuild. By pulling out of the race and never really getting serious about Al Jefferson, that told me all I needed to know about our current plans.

And I'm fine with it... Tear it down, keep some core pieces, and rebuild.

Guess people arent entitled to their opinion around here anymore? Maybe hes excited about the chance to watch the Cavs rebuild. Whats done is done, Cavs are moving on.

I didn't question his excitement going forward. I asked a question about him saying Lebron never delivered on any promises.

He never promised to take the Cavs to the NBA Finals or have the best record in the regular season, probably because those accomplishments are meaningless. He did promise to win a championship for Cleveland and he "won't stop until he gets it". Then he promptly stopped in the middle of a playoff series. He's recruited more players to Miami in 5 days then he did in 7 years in Cleveland. Those are the things he did for us.

Technically he said he would light up Cleveland like Vegas and we do have a casino coming. Is that the promise you meant he delivered?
