I wouldn't make too much of Qyntel Woods. He was one of the last JailBlazers and had more than a few run-in's with the law. I don't think he is someone the Cavs want in their organization because of that reputation. As for Europe, Childress is someone multiple teams have had interest and from what it sounds like this Woods was a better player as he was All-Offense and All-Defense of the Euroleague. Even in the LeBron era we looked at the former NBA players who thrived in Europe. There was Sarunas Jasikevicius the PG who was Z's best friend and Anthony Parker when he originally signed with the Raptors a few years ago. Neither became superstars but were solid role players.

I'm wondering how JJ does this season. I think he's a solid player, but playing with LBJ did wonders for him. What type of season stat wise are you Cavs fans expecting from him. You guys have always thought a lot more of him than I have. Just curious as to what you expect out of him stat wise without the top dog being there and a lot more opportunity.

The potential is definitely there and apparently he's been working on his jump shot which improved over the course of the season. I'd say with an increase in minutes and another year of seasoning (a lot of guys really improve from year 2 to 3), I could see numbers around 15 and 8 as a possibility. He has an underrated back to the basket post game that a lot of people are going to see more of this year. His defense also improved as the season went on last year (plays like the full on rejection of Dwight Howard and Dwayne Wade come to mind), and I expect it to continue to improve this year.

JJ has the skill set and athletic ability to be a 20/10 guy. No doubt in my mind.

Also, more proof LeBron wanted to leave from Windy:

hickson will finally be able to earn his hype.

i was always flabbergasted why we as fans were so high on a guy that would be lucky to get 10 minutes a game some nights.

That's high praise considering the only 20/10 guys in the NBA that accomplished that last year are:

Zach Randolph
David Lee
Chris Bosh

Hell, best case scenario, he's a Dwight Howard type, and he's not even a 20/10 guy.

the cavs are so fucked.

they are trying to make moves and no one is biting, it's like they have the plague the way teams are shying away from deals at this point.

Don't know about the seriousness of the talks but the Jazz are offering a trade exception that was created when Boozer left. Since we have the same type of exception my guess is our talks didn't get to serious. Al Jefferson in a Showtime like offense is similar to putting Z on the Suns/Knicks.

IMO I think the Cavs have a lot of work ahead of them. I don't think a few moves right now will make a difference and when moves are made I believe they will be for expiring contracts and draft picks. I bet Chris Grant and his team are doing a full scale audit of the team and looking at who they might want to hold onto and who they can move and package to other teams for contracts and picks. Now that the big free agents have landed the lay of the land in the NBA has become clearer and so now the Cavs can assess who needs what and in turn what we could get back (picks/cap space).

I still think the Cavs need to look into Kevin Pritchard though lol

According to Winhorst the talks never got that serious. Its starting to look like they are going to either keep the roster as it is or try to make some moves for young players and draft picks..........blow it up and totally rebuild

I think you have to, but you almost have to wait a year. You have to get some young pieces and I don't know if they can do that right now. They have the draft picks (although all the picks from Miami will be late 1st rounders) and maybe at the trade deadline they can find someone to take on one of their bigger contracts. Gilbert already sold the season tickets for this year, and the TV deal is still good, so this year is a wash. But he needs to find a way to bring in some excitement within the next couple years.

if they do that, they look like dumbasses for taking that TPE from miami.

yeah, but that's just it, they could have gotten more substance (picks) than take something they may not use and that likely won't help them achieve their ultimate goal.

Miami had nothing else to offer. It was that or nothing. They got two first rounders (maybe 3?), and a team has to draft in the 1st round every other year, so Miami can't just give away all of their first rounders. It's not like they had any players to trade.

They already got 4 picks. Pretty sure that would've been all they could've gotten outside of the TPE, unless they wanted to take on the contract of Mike Beasley. Basically they got the best deal they could.

Remember the Heat didn't "have" to even make the trade.

let lebron take less money. i know they did the best they could, but they (the cavs) i think were trying to save face a little due to gilberts letter and were willing to take a little shot to end this fiasco.

That's retarded. They did it to get picks to better their future..not to "save face"

If they happened to "save face" in the process of this S&T, that's a bonus..it wasn't the reason for doing the S&T.

They made the trade because it was the smart thing to do. They got a few chips that may help them rebuild. Can't believe some of you guys were against a S&T if LeBron wanted to leave, smh.
