It could be as early as next week, but not likely. Ross said the decision will probably be made before August 1st when the new Board of Directors are seated.

Looks like at the August meeting, since no vote took place/no recommendation was made at the meeting this past week.

If you look at my post again, you'll see that I said travel WAS a logical reason. We have plenty of restaurants and lodging, therefore THOSE aren't....Unless you're part of the group that demands caviar and 5 star room service.

Again...they will be LOSING $200,000 right off the bat if they move to Columbus. They aren't going to make that kind of money up. I don't see them going anywhere based on that fact alone.

In reading this topic on this site and others I find it a little funny that so many people from one part of the state is so afraid they are losing the games and look for every reason they can for the games not to be moved.

Time will tell what will happen.

I have little faith in those in charge doing the right thing so if I was to bet on this I would bet they are staying put.

You mean..kinda funny like people from the other part of the state wanting it moved? You know, just so they don't have to drive as far? That's a pretty idiotic statement. Of COURSE the people in the 'one part of the state' wouldn't want it to be moved. Those in charge will do what's best for the State Championships, so yeah, I'd bet on them staying put too. ;)

I'm not that close to either Cbus or Mass/Canton, but I've been to championship games in both places, and to me Massillon is the best by far. Fawcett is second, but I don't like the seating arrangements there, since they split the partcipating team's fans up. The Horseshoe was the worst, for obvious reasons. Another bad thing about OSU was that the field seemed really far away from the stands.

Nah, we actually want people to attend, not stay away because of the armpit smell from Stinkerville. :)

The smell doesn't keep them away from Massillon. :)

(And no skank, that's wasn't a dig on Massillon, my always defensive little buddy. :p You can't deny the stench on the SE side of town. Lol)

The attendance will continue to dwindle where they are now the question is how far must they dwindle before the O.H.S.A.A. sees that something must be done?

Why would you find that funny? I mean, if you had something in your back yard that you were interested in, that also was a boost to your community, economically speaking, wouldn't you want it to stay?

And as far as "those in charge" doing the right thing, I see where they FINALLY nailed a parochial school for violations (VASJ), so....maybe....just maybe....they are finally starting to do things the right way.

Yeah, we see how moving the North/South game from Massillon to Cbus has helped attendence.

Attendance will dwindle wherever it is at. If you think TV isn't the major reason for the attendance numbers, you are sadly mistaken. That's the major reason, not b/c of the location.

Ohio Stadium still had the track around the field when the games were there, so that problem has been addressed.

TV is the main reason people aren't going, plus a bad economy. Less and less people have the extra money to drop on tickets and a hotel, and that won't change regardless of location.

They don't really support the numbers in the article, and a lot of things would have to go right for the $200,000 thing to be a reality. But the article is somewhat biased since the Repository wrote it.
At the same time, the Dispatch, which is basically just an OSU propaganda machine, has written pretty biased pieces on the Columbus bid too.

Right, it's not a guaranteed $200,000..at least $80,000 though. According to the article.

The move to the Shoe could help OSU huge for recuiting the instate kids, and not seeing Michigan, Texas, Notre dame and other colleges grab Ohios top recuits.
