I always find it interesting that when I see the Steelers lose a game, I hear their fan base stand up for their team and rally around them.
Really?
You lost ALL credibility with THAT statement. Noted frontrunners and you make THAT statement about them?
You must not have been around when they were on that slide they had last year against the Browns, Raiders, etc. Their fan base was up on the ledge ready to jump.
That comment is the funniest shit I've seen posted on here in a LONG time. A few of their diehards may have stuck by them, but when they started losing, their gear (shirts, hats, etc) was NOWHERE to be found. They won a couple down the stretch and "poof" it magically reappeared.
I agree and disagree with this statement. In my opinion, Cleveland and Pittsburgh are the same as far as fanbases. Both have their diehard fans and a lot of fans who get really quiet the minute things go wrong. Let's face it, you know and I know that if the Browns have a couple of years where they're better than the Steelers, you'll see a lot more Browns-wear in NEO...and some of it will be worn by people you could have swore you watched with Steeler stuff in the past. And let's face it: I know you're a hardcore loyal fan who will be pissed off about the frontrunners who suddenly became "SUPERFANS!" of the Browns, but you know that some people will be acting like that's a great victory because the frontrunners are on your side, now.
As for the other teams, the Indians, Cavs, Pens and Pirates get support when they're winners, but all have exhibited dark days when things aren't going well. I don't think you could differentiate between the fanbases of those teams.
I know there are frontrunners with every organization but his comment was comical, at best. It was like every Steeler fan backed them when they were on a slide. He's obviously confined to his own, little world.
I've made the statement that as a Brown's fan "I keep my friends close and my enemies closer" so people would be pretty surprised how much I'm aware of the "going's on" within the Pittsburgh organization. This includes checking out their message boards (not posting) with somewhat regularity.
When the Steelers lost to the Jags in Tomlin's first year you had Steeler fan assholes calling him a "token" and saying they were going to "reach out to their contacts in the KKK and have him taken care of", calling him the "N word" etc on some of these message boards. Shockingly, the asswipe leading the charge didn't get banned by the site (SteelCityInsiders.com).
So (NRTU), I really don't want to hear his shit about how Steeler fans "rally" behind their franchise in down times just because some Cleveland fans are critical of Lebron.
