Indeed, they didn't release any singles from In Utero, it is difficult to have a "hit" when you don't send singles to Top 40 stations. I think in some regards Cobain is held in too high of a regard, but it is unquestionable IMO that Nevermind and In Utero were two of the top ten most influential albums in the 90's.

And Nickelback, barf, it is commercial butt rock at its worst. At least the 80's hair bands had some standards.

I agree, I think many people ONLY like him because of his death, and it's easy to idolize people and put them up on too high a pedastal after their death.

However, I think for the most part a lot of what he, and Nirvana in turn, get is justified. They wrote almost all their own songs (about 80% being Cobain's stuff), obviously sang it and became as popular as they did, AND (a lot of ppl don't know this) Cobain drew still sketches of the music videos before they made them. In his private journals, that were released several years ago, there are sketches from Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come as you, Heart shaped box and 1 other one (Lithium maybe?). Anyways, he showed up to the set of the music video everytime the made videos, and they were shot exactly the way he had drawn them up.
