for nickelback songs? i have to play at least 4 or 5 over a four hour gig. alot of them they want more than once but that goes against my rules.

"How many Slayer songs do you get requests for? Mastodon? Rage against the Machine? System of a down? Lamb of God?"

i wouldnt even bring anything like that with me. lmao. talk about clearing the dance floor.

If Rage Against The Machine clears the dance floor, Nickelback should clear the building.

People who like Nickelback are ususally people who don't listen to anything outside of popular music. They consider Nickelback to be heavy shit. And we are talking a dj from Ohio. It's not the most progressive place on earth.

So no, not the worst ever, but certainly not everyone's cup of listening tea either
That reminded me of these guys, worst band I ever seen, not sure who they opened for, but they sucked:

That's exactly my point. Tell me what Nirvana song you're going to be listening to at a wedding or little Ezra's bat mitzvah? Rape me?? I'm sure that's a great choice. As zerocool said himself, talk about your dancefloor clearer! I'm sorry zerocool, you're trying to convince me that Nirvana, one of the top GRUNGE bands ever, is overrated because nobody requests their songs at FAMILY events??? I guess that means that all artists you don't get requests for are overrated. Somebody go tell all the founders rap they're all no talent hacks!!

The worst band ever may be a stretch. There are just so many putrid bands these days that this "honor" loses a little of it's luster.

Those guys suck something horrible.

And Nirvana is overrated, because, well, they're overrated. They're completely overrated, and in my opinion, sounded like something that crawled out of a dumpster

I would banter with you Darby, but I have seen the bands you like. Keep listening to Poison haha. :P

This is like a Clippers fan calling the Lakers overrated.

Poison was a great band, and a lot of people would have never had the ideas to do something different had it not been for them doing it first.

Sure, they looked like chicks on an album cover.... but it sold them a ton of records and got them mad pussy back in the day

Haha. You may like Poison, but they didn't exactly pave the way for anyone. If anything Poison was like our generations disco.

Punk was a reaction to that sort of shit music from the 70's and grunge was a reaction to the shit bands of the 80's like Poison.

What good metal bands exist today because of Poison, lol???? NONE. If anything they exist in spite of bands like Poison.

I can honestly say that System of a Down would not be around today if it were not for Poison.

Great post right here, spot on. Look, I admit that I enjoyed some Poison tunes back in the 80s, but they are the farthest thing from a great band. To each their own, I obvious have no personal beef with you Darby, but Nirvana was revolutionary, Poison was cute, for a time.

Yeah I loved Bon Jovi and G'n'R in the 80's (I was in 3rd grade when I was really into them, lol. I was in 5th when Nevermind came out and I never looked back). Nothing wrong with it. They are what they are. They can be fun music for a lot of people. That's fine.

and so it turns into an everybody vs. Darby in regards to hair bands thread like they always do....Ill sum up the rest of the argument: Darby-Hair bands are metal! Everybody else-hair bands are gay. end of conversation lol

actually nickelback sounds pretty decent. if you like one song you'll probably like them all because they sound the same. as a dj, i get a ton of requests for them.
You say Nirvana sucks, and then say Nickelback sounds decent.

Yeah, enough said. Now I see why many DJ's play shitty music.

Did I say that's where it was going? No.

this is a dumb argument to even have because everyone's tastes are so varied. I'm all over the map, from the hair bands to Billy Joel to Frank Sinatra. I'm sure others on here are the same way. So to say one band is the greatest or worst of all time is just pointless

If we based the quality of music on requests at weddings and bar mitzvahs, the Village People are The Fucking Beatles and The Electric Slide and the Macarena are As My Guitar Gently Weeps and Ode to Joy.
