That guy also forgets to mention that Corey Williams wasn't a starter with Green Bay. He was a situational pass rusher.

He also fails to realize that it's the 46, and not the 43, that would benefit Wimbley more because the 46 defense is designed to put an elite pass rusher out on an island with the LT or RT, whichever side the defense prefers.

He is trying to convince us that Maiava is also starting material, and that he's good in coverage (one of his weaknesses at USC).

He does make a good point about D'Qwell. D'Qwell would do very well as a WILL, think Lance Briggs. But he wouldn't play ILB, IMO.

Also Elam would play more of a Rover position (think Georgia defense), in which the safety comes up and plays more like a linebacker, sort of like a 44 defense, or 46 defense.

This guy doesn't know the difference between a 46 bear, or a 43. Which is why he writes for The Bleacher Report.

It's neither, IMO. It's the fact that he's simply not intelligent when it comes to the game. He lacks the intangibles to be a good safety, and relies on being a physical freak. He plays one position, and one position only- Centerfield. He rarely covers receivers man on, and heavily relied on an elite front 7 the last 2 seasons at USC.

He's being exposed this year because he has just a mediocre front 7 in front of him to help him out.

However, he'll be a first round pick just because of his combine.

I kinda think Mays is more of an OLB, not a NFL DB.

I was pretty high on Taylor Mays over the past few years, but he hasn't looked great this season. He looked bad at times tonight against BC

You realize what bleacherreport is right? It's a site where unpaid users generate content. The guy that wrote that is a senior in high school with no credentials on anything. Why would we care what he thinks?

You saw his true self this year when he doesn't get help from guys like Rivers, Cushing, Matthews, Maiava, and Maualuga.

When you have inexperienced players in front of you, you're going to struggle, unless you're an elite player, like Eric Berry.

did i say anyone would care? i just said he thinks otherwise. do i share his opinion? no. but also a senior in high school with no credentials on anything. does that make him less creditable than most of the posters here, that behave like freshmen in i high school with no credentials on anything

It makes him exactly the same as every poster on here. So why would you cite his position in an argument with someone?

Washington plays SD next week. Look like they will both finish 4-12. How do they decide on who gets the 5th and 6th picks?

http://www.draftsite.com/nfl/2010mock.htm

Pretty in depth mock draft. I think I would rather have one of those two tackles in round two rather than the Stanford RB.

The NFL Draft tiebreaker goes by record, SOS percentage, division record, and conference record.

Because the Browns and Washington are in diff. conferences, the division and conference record don't apply, so the first tiebreaker will be SOS. If both teams have the same SOS percentage, then it will go to a coinflip, just like Tampa Bay and the Browns in 2006 when Braylon was drafted.

Great post! Thanks...

Any clue who had the harder SOS?

According to this, our opponents Win % is 49%, while Washington's is only 44%, so we currently have the tougher schedule.

No way do the Browns take Gerhart with their second pick.

They need another very good CB way more than a running back (assuming they can re-sign Harrison).

Mays is the most overrated player in the draft.

^ My thoughts for quite some time. People have never been found of that point of view, but they're coming around lately. He still has a long career ahead to make me look like a fool.

If I am not mistaken, the team with the worse strength of schedule gets the higher pick, which in this case would be Washington.

It sounds ass backwards, but I think the rational I heard one time was that the team with the worse ranked schedule was considered a worse team than the team losing to better teams. The theory being if Washington lost as many games as Cleveland against worse competition, then they are deserving of the higher pick.

I could be wrong about that and someone please correct me if I am, but I am almost sure I remember a situation in which this happened and the weaker schedule got the higher pick. The same way the team who lost the game in a tie-breaker gets the higher pick because they are a needier team if they lost the head to head and you finish with the same record.

It won't matter anyway, because Cleveland is going to win next week as this is what they typically do every season it seems. Once they fall out of the race, they always win meaningless games at the end of the year which really do nothing more than hurt their draft position.

The ability to draft many players has been lost over this since the Browns came back, and the whole "winning meaningless games builds for next year" argument has never worked out either really, as the Browns have never carried the momentum from those meaningless late season wins over to the next season. All they do is make people feel better about a bad team and cost valuable draft position every round.

Thank the lord somebody else sees this.

Mays is purely hype. He relies on speed, size, and athleticism to play well.

He's really had a significantly worse season than the previous two, and IMO, that's mostly due to the fact that he didn't have an elite front 7 playing in front of him.

He's not versatile (or at least hasn't shown that he can be), and plays 1 position, and 1 position only, which is centerfield 20 yards behind the LOS in a cover 3 and sometimes a cover 2.

You could be right. I always get some of the SOS things backwards, but it would make sense that they'd give it to the team with the easier schedule, that still lost.

I'll try to find out more.

DaBrowns- I completely agree. I think he'll go round 1 because he'll freak the combine, but I really do think there are a handful of safties I'd draft before him and I wouldn't sniff him in round 1. I think a good NFL passing game will target him and eat him alive. He's taken some of the worst angles on balls that I've ever seen in my life. But when it matters most, he'll probably take the perfect angle to Al's balls to get drafted by the Raiders.

Well if Mangini is the coach, I highly doubt we'll draft Mays. I don't know much about him, but what I get from reading the other posts, it seems that he is a freak athlete, but is not the smartest player and relies strictly on his athletic ability. Mangini will not draft any player that is not smart, that is one of his calling cards. He wants smart, fundmentally sound players, that will be good locker room guys.

Mangini is no longer in charge of the draft.
I hope they don't take Mays, I hope Berry is there when they pick.
I think his on field talent is highly overrated.

He will be working closely will Holmgren though. I doubt Holmgren will pick a player that his coach does not want.

Number 1 Mangenius won't be around when this draft takes place. After listening for 2.5 hours to Cleveland sports talk radio on Sunday everyone up there agrees he is gone. Holmgren isn't getting paid 10mil to let someone else's pick run his team. "Period" .l Hell he hasn't even watched the Browns play yet this year. That speaks volumes. He could care less what Mangenius is doing with that team right now. The coaching staff and half the current players will be gone by May.
Number 2 The Browns will not be picking the running back out of Stanford anytime soon. Does Touchdown Tommy Vardell ring a bell.? It took him 3 years to score for the Browns. Can't be PC on this other than to say no White running back is going to be a number 1 draft pick in the top 10 anytime soon. If he is I'll be LMFAO.

That someone else who picked him was the owner, Randy Lerner. In the conference call Holmgren mentioned that his boss is Lerner. Also, Lerner is still very fond of Mangini. So I don't think its a sure deal that Mangini is fired whatsoever. Its probably much closer to 50-50 on whether he stays or goes.
