I’m not sure there is a true “wow” with this year’s team. Yeah, you expect to beat the bad teams - but the offense is just so mediocre that I’m not shocked when they get shutdown any given night, by any given pitcher.

Was reading an article by SI talking about how Ramirez has maybe been unlucky versus bad. Made some very good points. He’s taking slightly less pitches out of the zone, but still at an elite level. Hitting the ball slightly harder, but swinging at a slightly higher rate of “out of swing zone” pitches. And swinging and missing more, but again, not by a lot. The numbers say he should have a lot more hits with a lot more power.

He promptly does this today.

Those 2 starts have already produced a higher WAR than Gomes this year (speculating, I don’t actually know. Just that Gomes has been pretty awful).

Just took a look back to an article posted 4 days ago about Allen’s stats so far:

*Cody Allen, Angels: 0-1, 2.45, 4-for-4 in saves, 7 1/3 innings

currently: 

8.1 innings, still 4 saves, 5.40 era.

Ha ha! Yeah that didn’t translate well. The hits and runs weren’t all in one inning......but almost.

I know. He had like 4 bad outings in a row. 2 he didn’t even record an out.
