Rambo: Last Blood
6/10 - but, you know, it's Rambo no one is expecting any awards. Some people really like it, and the movie and story is certainly decent. But it's a short movie (@ 80 minutes) that FEELS too short.
Has a "finish him" moment at the end that rivals the speech at the end of Rocky IV for being ridiculously horrible.

Way too much going on that makes no sense and it feels like they just threw away everything that was great about Last Jedi.

Yeah, there were quite a few times I just went, "oh come on!"
Star Wars getting a 58% on Rotten Tomatoes is...not great. Heard it was another “remake”. Ugh, so annoying they couldn’t come up with an original plot in ANY of the new 3.

Last Jedi was partly new, about letting the past die and anyone can be a Jedi.. but apparently the hardcore fans didn't like it.
Yet, the Rise of Skywalker throws that away and is just a Return of the Jedi retread.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Loved it at the theater, it's a 48 hour rental On Demand.......so I watched it twice.
Yep.
Rise of Skywalker. 6/10. It wasn't as bad as I've heard. It wasn't great but it was entertaining. Definitely had issues but I also think they can never satisfy everyone.
Decent chance we are heading once again tonight before my brother heads back home.
The 20-30 folks that I personally know all love this movie and I liked it even better the second time. 3D this evening likely.
Stoked to see hear about the new trilogy in January that is being planned and get into the Mandalorian, which i hear is great. Not so spoiler alert, but they said the Mandalorian's ship (and all the surviving ships from past movies) show up in the final big battle scene in TLS!
The Call of the Wild is coming out soon. Loved that book as a kid but man, the previews look so much CGI with the dog, which I get, just doesnt make me really wanna see it too badly.
1917,,,,,,,that could be epic. It is sort of a true story, I guess, as it just stems from a story a grandpa, who was in WW1, told the writer when he was a kid. He filled in a lot of blanks, of course, but the main premise/reason is the same supposedly

Just Mercy - 8/10. Very good performances by all. Fuck the state of Alabama, and quite frankly the whole south.
1917-Definitely worth seeing, parts I was "bored", so I can't give it a 10/10, but definitely a good, powerful, movie.

I get what you are saying about the "boring" parts. I think much of that was to A. character background and B. When you are places for days, weeks or months on end with very little, or no, contact from the outside world or technology to turn to all you have is your brothers and those discussions can go on and on, often times about nothing at all. You truly end up knowing more about your buddies than you do you own friends and family.
That interpersonal connection is what I took out of some of those longer drawn out parts.
I thought the scenery was fantastic and exactly what I thought it would look like at the time.

I agree with everything you said. I truly did love the movie, the scenery, the story, the cinematography was different but good (always seeing the characters faces and what is behind them but not where they are going).
These types of movies, I would put Saving Private Ryan a definite 10/10, and I can't say this one was quite that good so that's where the 8/10 comes from.

Oh i concur. Def not on SPR levels but not much many are! Cool how this was pieced together by the stories the grandpa would tell him when he was a yute!
Awaiting word from my resident war film snob, I mean critic, to give me the info on how legit everything was pertaining the time it woulda taken place. Dude almost got a job being a historian for films!

Liked it even better the second time around. Tremendous filmmaking by Nolan.
Finally went to see Knives Out. 10/10 I couldn't come up with a single thing I didn't like.

Saw the movie this weekend. Very good. If it would have opened like SPR with an intense battle scene like the opening waves of the battle of the Somme where the Brits had nearly 20k killed in one day and nearly 60k total causalities the takes would be different.
The scenes of "no man's land" were the battlefield shock this movie portrayed. The corpses left to rot to be picked at by rats, crows, and buzzing flies.
One can't help but think that was someones son who at the sound of a whistle "went over the top" and met this end.

Cannot imagine the amount of balls it would take to go over that hill knowing what was about to happen especially back then with no body armor. Pretty much was, like on D-Day, hoping for over whelming numbers that they just couldnt kill em all before getting to the objective.
