Once upon a time in Hollywood. 2/10 and the worst Tarantino movie imho. It's about 2 hours too long and most of the characters are unimportant.

I haven't quite finished it yet....But it started out like "wow, this might be the best Tarantino film yet", peaking with the Bruce Lee fight...then it began a pretty steady decline.

I did some reading on it, and I do think it fairs a little better if you understand it's sort of a homage to the era, a biopic of the has-beens and never-were's that Hollywood chews up and spits out.  Lot of fascinating little details (ok, probably more interesting than the movie) like how there were no Asian leading-men, so Bruce Lee had to go find success over in Hong Kong.

Also, there's only a few pics to go off of, but Sharon Tate might have been a bigger smoke-show than Margot Robbie.  Don't anyone look up Sharon Tate unless they want spoilers.

It kind of felt like team America where all the actors sit around talking about how cool and important they are.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was amazing. You all are crazy. Did you not know what it was supposed to be about? Hollywood in the 60s/70s and the Manson Family alternate universe. It was hilarious and amazing.

And Gut, who doesn’t know what happened to the real Sharon Tate? Unless you mean something else?

Tokyo Drift I think gets better each time I watch. Mostly because Han became an integral character. 2 is just stupid, but we get Luda and Tyrese. It’s a dumb action flick that I watch everytime it’s on cable. Actually, any Fast movies and any Jurassic Park movie I end up watching.

Even the third Jurassic Park??

I haven't finished it yet.  I thought it started amazing and then had really started to drag.  I've got maybe an hour left.

And, no, I didn't know about the real Sharon Tate.  I remember watching some Manson stuff 25 years ago, but certainly don't remember any names.  Didn't even remember anything about their victims.  I was wondering what she was doing with pedo Roman Polanski.  Man did that dude have a messed-up life.

Huh, I just assumed Charles Manson stuff was more widespread knowledge. But maybe not. We watched a few documentaries in college about it, so that probably warped my perception on the rest of the population.

As for the movie, QT almost always has 1-2 scenes that aren’t needed or drag. I enjoy them usually because his style suits my taste, but I get it. Loved the Leo acting in the western in OUATIH, but understand why most think it was dumb and long. The Pitt stuff with the Manson Family was creepy as hell and flat out amazing. The last hour gets good again, also. Now that you know what actually happened, you’ll enjoy the end more.

You Must Remember Manson is a solid podcast on the topic. I wanted to listen to it before watching Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which I still haven't had a chance to see.

6/10.  Complete crap by Tarantino standards, but still a worthwhile watch, IMO.  I think how well someone really likes the movie depends on the biopic of Dicaprio's character.  I didn't find his scenes all that compelling or interesting, and that's a core part of the movie.  Pitt and his dog pretty much carry the movie.

Train to Busan -- 9/10 or so. Really good Korean zombie flick that hit all the right notes for me. Claustrophobic, creepy zombies, most everyone dies.

It's a Wonderful Life

Fun fact: the characters Sheldon and Leonard in Big Bang Theory were named in honor of Sheldon Leonard......"Look at me!  I'm makin' angels!"

Interesting. Were Bert and Ernie named after Bert (cop) and Ernie (cab)?

The Irishman: 7/10. I liked it, but it is waaay too long. The last 20+ mins could have been shaved off. The story was pretty good and it rarely dragged.

It's a Wonderful Life

Once, I was watching the horror movie 976-EVIL II and, for a kinda blah film, it had one scene that was utterly glorious. Where a support character gets sucked into a TV mash-up of It's a Wonderful Life and Night of the Living Dead. Those few minutes were AMAZING! And really made me think that any classic movie likely would be far better if zombies were added.

Ok, serious question, if I find this movie and just fast forward to that part, will it all make sense?

Or, do I have to suffer through the whole movie to understand it?

Because that does sound like a pretty good few minutes.

Here's all you need to know: evil dude uses the titular phone hotline to get evil powers to become a low-rent Freddy Krueger, as he's in jail for evil things he's done (well, allegedly, as the trial hasn't happened yet). With powers, his spirit can leave jail to kill people who might be able to keep him there. He also has a creepy-old-dude-lust deal for his hot assistant (one of the leads). She and her best friend are watching movies at one of their places and bickering over whether to watch Night of the Living Dead or It's A Wonderful Life. They decide and main character goes to make popcorn. Friend is watching TV and old dude appears in a commercial and she gets sucked into the mash-up. Which I'm pretty sure you can find on YouTube, as it is the only scene in the movie that really goes above "meh, decent for what it is" levels. Well, other than how the guy playing the old dude LOVED being over-the-top evil.

watched a new hope yesterday with my kid (he's home from school sick) still a great movie, but i hate the remastered version with the choppy cgi. I don't know how bad the puppetry was back in the day (been too long since i've seen it) but i almost feel like that would be better.

6 Underground
6.5/10

It was witty, and the acting was good.  The writing and camera work all felt a little frenetic, but that's Michael Bay for you.
