A Beautiful Day

I’m not sure. Hanks is brilliant. Movie was interesting and touching. I’m a poor movie critic. I give it a 7.5 but it might be a 10

LOL....I'm sure it's great.  I'm sure Hanks is great.  But I don't think there's ever been a movie I'm less interested in seeing.  I barely even watched Mr. Rogers as a kid.

I completely agree about not being interested in the Mr. Rogers' movie. The trailer doesn't intrigue me one bit. I miss the 90s as far as Tom Hanks' movies go. I think he's made like 2 movies since 2000 that I've been remotely interested in.

Cast Away is good of course, Road to Perdition was alright, Catch Me if you can is good, couldnt get into any of the Da Vinci Code movies, Captain Phillips was ok, Bridge of Spies was good, and Sully was ok. I just dont think his run has been filled with entertaining movies since Catch me if you can. Just my opinion.

This Jojo Rabbit film looks interesting to me.  Will probably check it out soon.

Rocket Man 8.5/10

I know some others didn't think that highly of it.  First, the actor I thought was great - at times I thought it was actually Elton singing (might have been, LOL).

A little artsy and kind of a musical feel, which I'm sure was the influence of Elton who was directly involved.  But I thought the way they used the music to not only explain the songs, but use them to explain key moments in his life and who he is were absolutely brilliant  - which was my main criticism of Bohemian Rhapsody (could watch half of that film on youtube, with the real Freddie Mercury).

And so I'm an idiot - didn't realize Bernie Taupin wrote most of the lyrics all these years.  That kind of blows me away, not to mention that someone can take lyrics and then compose all the music to fit.

Not really a criticism, but it sort of abruptly ends with his getting clean in rehab.  Makes sense, but there's another 30 years and almost different life that's not explored.

I don't like "Man in Black" as much as I should, but as biopics go I put this solidly #2 to "Ray".  It's on the same plane as "Man in Black", I just enjoyed "Rocketman" more.  At the end of the day, "Rocketman" is an excellent biopic.

Agree on da VInci.  Hanks is one of the best ever, but he was not the right guy for that part.  It never worked.

I enjoyed Da Vinci.  Don't disagree about Hanks being mis-cast, but the source material was just so good.  And agree the book was way, way better.

But it's REALLY HARD to film a movie with some of the most iconic locations in all of Europe and end-up sucking.  I'd recommend the movie for the cinematography alone.

Cast Away 2000 - boring

Road to Perdition 2001 - ok

Catch Me if you Can 2002 - excellent...but Leo

Da Vinci Code 2006 - awful

Captain Phillips 2013 - excellent

Bridge of Spies 2015 - ok

Sully 2016 - bad

I’m with Bigdaddy here, I find almost all of Hanks work boring. I think he picks bad roles.

Somehow they managed to do this...

Angels and Demons book was WAY better than Da Vinci Code, but the A&D move was actually worse than DVC movie...

If anyone actually read DVC book, and has not read Angels and Demons (it came out before DVC) I would highly recommend it.

I agree, my post was about how the A&D book was better than DVC book. However, the movies DVC was better than A&D movie.

Not sure how the studio managed to screw that up.

Dukes of Hazard lol

I’ll give it a 4.5 but Jessica Simpson kept it from being a 2

Jojo Rabbit

Very entertaining.  Maybe one of the strangest movies I’ve ever seen. Lots of humor and thought provoking.

Tokyo Drift I think gets better each time I watch. Mostly because Han became an integral character. 2 is just stupid, but we get Luda and Tyrese. It’s a dumb action flick that I watch everytime it’s on cable. Actually, any Fast movies and any Jurassic Park movie I end up watching.

Once upon a time in Hollywood. 2/10 and the worst Tarantino movie imho. It's about 2 hours too long and most of the characters are unimportant.
