I was thinking on this the other day and struggled. 4 or 5 definite but about 20 in consideration. Didn’t know where to put the young guys, the runners, the old guys, the injured.

Mine:

1. Patrick Mahomes

2. Aaron Rodgers

3. Russell Wilson

4. Tom Brady

5. Kyler Murray

6. Ben Roethlisberger

7. Josh Allen

8. Drew Brees

9. Dak Prescott

10. Derek Carr

Lamar, Tannehill, Goff, Ryan, Rivers....and more

I also had this debate a couple weeks ago internally.

1. Patrick Mahomes

2. Aaron Rodgers

3. Kyler Murray

4. Russell Wilson

5. Josh Allen

6. Lamar Jackson

7. Deshaun Watson

8. Tom Brady

9. Drew Brees

10. Ben Roethlisberger

Dak would have been up there prior to injury. I think Burrow and Herbert will be in this list next year.

Honorable mention to Derek Carr, Stafford, Matt Ryan, Jared Goff and Mayfield.

Don’t think anyone from NFC East is in top 20. Maybe Daniel Jones? Same with Jets, Patriots, Bears, Jaguars.

We debated all the same players and agree on the rookies...Tua might join

Lamar Jackson has had some troubles and just fell off my list...but the reigning MVP but hasn’t showed much ability to win a game when they are playing from behind and has to pass.

You have the old guys behind the newer guys but in a must have drive I’m still going with the oldies.

I’d guess next year Burrow, Herbert and Dak would be on the list and Brees, Brady, and Big Ben would be off. Or Trevor Lawrence is on the list??!

Maybe Lamar doesn’t belong on the list right now. He seems to have come back down to earth but he still would scare the hell out of me in a playoff game. If they don’t make it, or they do and fizzle out in round one, I think he’s safely off the list.

If Lawrence is top 10 next year on the Jets....he’ll be the only thing ever talked about

Ben's stats this year are a little misleading simply because they keep trying to get a broken running game going, and then Ben has to bail them out.  He's throwing the ball as well as he ever has, and decision-making has been almost perfect.  He's the MVP thru 10 weeks, but I understand that's now pretty much the OPOY award.

I'd put Mahomes and Rodgers ahead of him.  But the thing about Rodgers is he's a front-runner - unstoppable when everything is going right, but really not much of a gamer when the offense is struggling.

Might have been a bit premature with that

I had the right tense...I might’ve been reverse jinxing trying to get a Bucs win.

Goff pretty good regardless. Looks better than Brady
