You have the power to remove one HOFer and replace him with another eligible player. WYD?

Can I remove Jeter as the only unanimous and insert Babe Ruth or Willie Mayes in his spot?

I thought Mo was unanimous?

I’m inserting Omar and taking out Bruce Sutter. Omar isn’t a no-brainer, but I’ve done some deep dives offensively and he wasn’t nearly as bad as made out to be. He wasn’t a masher, but he played SS, and relative to his peers at that time, he was above average. Plus his defense and longevity (while not padding, actually contributing) is impressive. He deserves it and will likely get it based on his progression.

Sutter wasn’t even a great RP. If he is in, half the Closers today should make it, which is stupid.

That’s what I meant, not Jeter. Potato potato.

Harold Baines is a great call. The absolute picture of playing forever and accumulating hits. His numbers, especially for a DH and Corner OFer are pedestrian.

I want to switch and put Omar in for him. Similar numbers until the power HR/RBI/Slug/OPS. But Omar defense and base-running take him over the top.

Omar definitely should be in

I like 283 win Jim Kaat and 288 win Tommy John.....I don’t care about their losses

They are at worst the Harold Baines of pitching

Bonds for Bagwell. Both are steroid guys, but if I'm going pick one as a player, it's Bonds. Bagwell only made the all-star team 4 times. He was a solid player, but I consider him to be in the category of very good as opposed to hall of fame. I go back about 40 years in terms of baseball that I can remember in person. Bonds was the most feared hitter that I have ever seen. In his younger years, he could also run and play defense. So why is Bags in over Bonds? I believe it is because Bags is a nice guy, and Bonds is an A-hole. It doesn't have anything to do with baseball.

I think that Pete should be in, but I think that this thread is about players who are eligible.

I went for non-steroids also. Because I’d pick 99% if the HOF over Bonds. Manny, Clemens, etc same boat. I’m 50/50 on whether they should actually make it, though. The older I get, the more I think they should be voted in. 10 years ago I was giddy that these “assholes who ruined the sport” would be punished with being left out.

Bonds 3 MVP before roids. Then looks at roided numbers...he became Babe Ruth from 37-43....then blackballed. Check out his damn numbers his last two years. They are insane. He could’ve kept going lol.

Roids cost him about 3300 hits, 650 doubles....turned his HR from 575 to 762, walks would’ve been near 2000 without and runs scored been right near record I’d guess.....added 4 more MVP though he wouldn’t had won

Clemens was injured and fading pretty good and then boom Cy Young Cy Young and 93 mph fastball (1994-95ish) and back at 99 mph. I’m less convinced by a decent bit that Clemens gets back to great without roids....Bonds at no point ever wasn’t one of the two best players in the game

This is hard to pick.  I'd probably oust Trammell, Ray Schalk, and Mazeroski.

I'd put in Concepcion, Omar, and Carlos Delgado.
