Sorry, the Browns didn't "because Browns" yesterday. For as shitty as they may have played, they had the game taken from them on a crappy refs call. Oh, and the "they lost in week 1 & 2 because of the kicker" doesn't hold any water because Oakland's kicker missed two FG's yesterday and they didn't seem to have an issue winning.
On a side note, I think a lot of us overestimated this defense. They shut down two HOF QB's in week 1 & 2 and then get diced by middle of the road Derek Carr? And where was Denzel Ward yesterday? Didn't hear the dude's name called once.
Just hope after a crushing loss like this that they don't go into a funk/downward spiral even though I don't think Baker will allow that.
He didn't look great yesterday but his performance said enough to me that they have their guy at QB.

They definitely "because browns" yesterday. They were in complete control of that game. 14 point lead, they had the ball, and then completely imploded. Broken record here, but this is not shocking considering this is a Hue Jackson football team. Name me one well coached team in the NFL or College that consistently finds ways to lose like the Browns do... Hell, name me an average coached team.

You gotta be fucking kidding me
I do agree with Br the defense was trash though. I don't think any of us would disagree. They let Jared Cook look like Gronk. I wouldn't even consider Jared cook a top 15 TE in the league.

Him and Cooper were running wide open all day. Probably bc we blitz every down and the zone falls apart

Which would be great if the blitzers were actually getting to the QB.
I've been bullish on Myles Garrett as of late but was pretty disappointed in yesterday's output. Was expecting him to thoroughly dominate the rookie LT and just didn't see it. Then I thought "maybe they're chipping him with a RB or TE" but most times it looked like Kolton Miller was handling Garrett one on one. Garrett did have a few good plays but I expected a truly dominating game, which I didn't see.
And I'm not putting blame on him. The whole defense sucked. Was just expecting something big from #95.

The defense was trash. Which is why it was “Browns will be browns” game. The defense has looked great for 3 games and the offense not so much. Then we get 42 points out of the offense and the defense decides to suck? That is the textbook definition of “browns will be browns” and then for BR to say it wasn’t because the refs screwed them?! That is ALSO a “browns will be browns” thing.

No, not really. A 'because Browns" thing to me is a Dwayne Rudd helmet throw, a blocked FG against the Ravens that gets returned for a TD, etc. Not a crappy defensive or offensive performance. "Because Browns", to me, means that something so preposterous that couldn't be fathomed happens because of their own doing....something that almost no other team would ever do.
I will give you one "because Browns" moment from yesterday and that was when they took the 14 point lead, get the ball back and Baker fumbles deep in their own end, setting up an easy TD for Oakland. That was about the worst thing that could happen to screw their momentum.

He was the only one on the front 7 that seemed to be playing in the 4th quarter. Also, let's not forget the refs stole a strip sack from him.

lol this. By definition this was a browns will be browns game.

My initial definition was "because Browns" which is different than "Browns will be Browns." I get what you guys are saying with the "Browns will be Browns" which, to me, is just the Browns sucking like they have since 1999. "Because Browns" is something completely out of the realm of possibility that only they could pull out of their asses...it's essentially finding a new/ridiculous way to lose. That wasn't yesterday. That was just poor football.
And Garrett may have seemed like the only one on the front 7 playing but I expected a lot more versus a rookie.

Blowing a 14 4th quarter lead via the correct call on the field being overturned to the wrong call isn’t a Browns will be Browns? Come on BR. You’re only saying this because you said before the game the browns won’t lose this game in a browns fashion. And they did.
That feeling you usually get after a browns will be browns game...yeah, we all had that yesterday.

How does an overturned call have anything to do with the Browns being Browns? Maybe "NFL refs being NFL refs" but that call had nothing to do with the Browns woes. It was a shitty call. Had nothing to do with the Browns play on the field. Now if you want to say "the Browns playing their usual shitty game" I'll buy that.
My understanding of a "browns being browns" loss is the Browns managing to lose a game they otherwise should have won and the other team had no business winning. This game falls in line with that definition. Now, if you want to argue there are different tiers of "browns being browns," I am down with that. This loss wasn't the worst tier, but it was definitely in a shitty tier.

Browns get a first down to win the game. Booth calls in to review it and actually overturn the correctly called play. Browns then have to punt and give up a TD and 2 point conversion to tie the game. Then throw a pick on the last series to send to OT. Then lay an egg in OT.
If that’s not browns will be browns, idk what is.

The actions AFTER the refs call, I agree, would be the Browns being the Browns. The refs making a shitty call had nothing to do with the Browns. The refs controlled what happened in that moment. As you said, once that was overturned, you knew they'd drive down, score the TD & the 2 pt conversion and eventually lose. I think this is what we all thought, but the ref determining whether the Browns were to win AT THAT POINT was not on the Browns.
I was at the game about 10 rows behind Browns bench. Mrs. Corbett [his wife and i think his mom, Corbett clan traveled well for this game. Wonder if he's from the area?] was sitting in front of me during the game.

- The Bryant drop was huge, he streaked right by (I was watching him as he was close to the browns bench).
- Hyde looks like he's running with a parachute, Chubb should be our starting RB.
- Landry, Randall, Peppers all look like they're playing with an injury. Noticeable limping on the sidelines.
- Refs this game were fucking horrible on both side. Lynch was called down by whistle and he wasn't even close. The entire stadium was fucking pissed and that would have been a TD.
- Our tackling sucks, esp BBC.
- Peppers is trash at returning, just abysmal.
- Our ST unit HAS to be the worst in the league. They're pitiful.
- Hue should have gone for it on 4th down. EVERYONE in the browns section was screaming to go for it. Made no sense not to, esp considering our Def was gassed and our ST was trash. Also hyde should not have been the runner on 3rd down.
- I have no clue why Avery isn't playing almost every snap. He's a stud
- Greg Robinson is fucking huge.
- Bob Wiley is fucking huge.
- Raiders tail gating was fun.
- I was walking around carrying beer and I'd say I was asked at least 12 times for beer from Raiders fan. Brought teh lulz. Never exp that before.
A few points on your bolded:
-That was a terrible call and the Browns got lucky, but I don't think that turns into a TD for lynch. Perhaps a significant gain, but def not a TD.
-ST is the worst. We have the worst HC in the league and the worst ST coordinator.
-I disagree with going for it. It should have been a first down for starters, but even then I don't think it's too much to ask for your defense to prevent the opposing team from scoring a td and 2 pt conversion with around 1:30 to go. Everyone knows it's going to be a pass; make a fucking play. That's why we drafted a CB #4 overall and a DE the year before #1 overall.
Which CB gave up the TD? Was it Gaines? He looked out of position on almost every play.
