Waste Management Open

Fowler up 5 with back 9 to go and starts pouring rain. Just off green on par 4, chips a touch hard, rolls by hole, off green, misses sand trap by 4 inches and rolls into water....he then drops it there. Ball at rest and he goes up to check out green and while 25 feet away a gust of wind rattles ball loose and it rolls back into water. Fowler eventually drained a 12 ft putt for an 8 and his competitor drained a 50 footer to tie it

So dumb. Celtics/Thunder it is for a while lol

It was a 7. Only 1 shot for the ball rolling into the water the 2nd time. Used to be 2.

Seems pretty cheap, but in reading more, he was offered an additional $15k but turned it down, and was just a club caddie that Kuchar allowed to work his bag. Not sure beggars should be choosers in this case. Could have cleared $23k for the week, when otherwise you'd have made nothing...

This is a non story. Kuchars  regular caddie, who has a contract, couldn’t make the tournament. Kuchar and this guy agreed to $3k, regardless of his finishing position. When he won, Kuchar offered him $15k, and the guy turned it down. So, Kuchar gave him $3k, the agreed upon, and a $2k tip, totaling $5k. I seriously don’t get why this is a story.

What Kuch does with his money is none of my business. They had an agreement going into the tournament, and Kuch honored that agreement. Definite non-story, IMO.

Really annoyed the Genesis Open is on a weather delay. This is my first year playing fantasy golf, and this is the first tournament of the season, so I'm pretty antsy to follow my golfers. Winner of the season long league gets to fill their bag (all 14 clubs) from anything offered by Tour Edge.

My team this week:

Bubba Watson
Scott Stallings
James Hahn
Cameron Smith
Xander Schauffele
Patrick Cantlay
Martin Laird
Kevin Na
KJ Choi

Did you all see Phil's par that was wiped off the board when they reset all scores yesterday?

Total earnings. You get a $2mil budget and have to pick between 7-10 golfers each week.

  • 3 points birdie
  • .5 points par
  • -.5 points bogey
  • 5 points eagle
  • 13 points hole-in-one/double eagle
  • 3 points for 3 bogeys in a row
  • 3 points for a bogey free round
  • 5 points all rounds in 60s
  • 5 points for a hole-in-one (plus the eagle or double eagle points)
  • 30 first
  • 20 second
  • 18 third
  • 16 fourth
  • 14 fifth
  • finish scoring continues in that fashion with 41-50 getting 1 bonus point

The rules of golf are so incredibly dumb and inconsistent.

How’d he get a drop from that?

Exactly. And at Phoenix, how does Rickie drop a ball and have it “be in play” only to roll into water and take a stroke for it.

I don’t care that JT isn’t going to win (choked, lost composure some, pissy).....but Holmes winning rubs me the wrong way

Holmes, Cantlay and Na should never be allowed at the top of a leaderboard. Their pace is miserable. PGA needs to start actually enforcing stroke penalties to guys.

DJ with 20th career win

NBC announcers are killing Patrick Reed for slowing down the final group ridiculously and he’s doing it while playing awful

It was really fun watching DJ and Rory down the stretch. Until Rory's bogey on 18 they were both just otherwordly on the back 9.
