College student with 2 other roommates. I am trying to find a diet - call it that if you want - that is somewhat inexpensive to my pockets. I really need to start eating healthier and I understand that it is hard to do that while saving the little money we do have.

I don't have a meal plan at school because it is overpriced as hell, so we have basically just been spending about $20 per each week on the necessities.

Does anyone have any good recommendations on what to do?

Slim Fast Ultima (Wal-Mart brand). As long as you can cut out snacking, it will work. You have to stick to it. Averages out to $10 per week (6 days of two meals). Mega-Green Tea fat burner/appetite suppressor helps the cravings too. The $4 15 day pack at Wal-Mart. Seriously, it works, but like all diets, you have to stick to it.

I'm in the same boat as you are. I usually check Giant Eagle to see if their frozen chicken breasts are on sale. Frozen veggies are usually pretty cheap(like 10 for 10) as well. Piece of grilled or boiled chicken with a cup of veggies and a little bbq sauce worked well for me. I also made a few trips to Aldi's, you can save alot of money shopping at that place.

Its virtually impossible. Eating healthy requires a lot of daily shopping because the fresh/healthy food will spoil. I really dont know what to tell you. Im terrible at eating healthy because I was too lazy to not just buy the bulk shit that doesnt spoil.

I saved a lot of money simply by quiting soda...I bought one of those pur water filters, now I just drink from the tap. I lost some weight from it also.

This isn't a diet change thing but whenever I play an online video game like Halo or something I make myself do either 15 or 20 push ups between games depending on whether I won or lost.

I would agree with the bag of frozen chicken breasts and then bags of veggies, I do that to this day and it's pretty inexpensive but also fairly healthy.

I am able to eat pretty healthy and have lost now 3 clothes sizes by shopping mostly at Aldi.
Don't buy any junk food. If it isn't there, you can't eat it. That has helped me tremendously.
Also, when I was in college, I never had time to eat. Stay busy and eat small amounts often.
I was at my best weight during college and now several years later.

Be careful what sauce you use though, because it could be high in sodium. A lot of people tend to ignore things like that, they think that as long as it won't make you gain weight it is healthy. However, sodium is a big killer in this country.

I'd switch to light beer. Perhaps a lager of the Natural or Keystone variety

You were supposed to extrapolate the /whatever to "but watch your sodium in the sauce as that isn't very good for your heart".

Eat pasta, fruit, veggies, milk, eggs, bread, and peanut butter. It's cheap and easy to cook everything, and it will fill you up. I don't buy meat but occasionally I'll make chili or eat plenty of meat when I go home or go out to eat with my friends, you won't miss it.

I eat frozen brocolli as my veggie, and I usually buy a couple pieces of fresh fruit, usually whatever is on sale.

This may be a little radical for you but it's called freeganism or just freegan. It's an anti-consumerism movement. Grocery stores throw a lot of food out that is still good. Check the dumpster out back.....

If you can put aside the social stigma of bein' a dumpster-diver you can essentially eat for free.....

Many fruits have protective peels so they won't be dirty and most meat comes in protective wrapping so as long as it's intact, it should be safe.....

The healtier I seem to eat the more money i ultimately save.
I eat less, make more of my own food so eating out less....all = more money in my pocket.

My grocery bill goes up...but my eating out goes waaay done and hence..saving $$$$.

Cant give you any pointers.....just hit the supermarket.
