Why did you title a thread about the movie "Slapshot", "Hoosiers"? :)

If you haven't read Bill Simmons' review after his 200th viewing of Hoosiers you are missing out.

He counts the shots Jimmy takes in the movie, he actually misses a few, and he does a stat line of the game against South Bend Central. Jimmy had 32 of 45 points I think?

I heard that they did that scene were he drains thirteen in a row in his backyard then misses the one when Hackman walks away in one cut.

This is true. The script wanted him to make every shot while Hackman was watching and they did it all in one take since he didn't miss one until the end.

One of the best sports movies ever. If it doesn't get you pumped for a game, not sure what could.

I grew up in Ohio and graduated from Ohio Univerisity, but live in West Lafayette, Indiana with my wife, whose a Purdue grad....

Didn't know that the movie was filmed just south of here by about 15 minutes in New Richmond until yesterday thanks to wikipedia. I tell you...

From this article you posted...
12:01: There's Norman Dale driving through backwoods Indiana in the early a.m. -- sipping coffee, headed toward his first day at work -- as the opening credits roll, the soundtrack quietly hums in the background and the sun rises through the clouds. Just gets you fired up. Indiana, 1951. 'Nuff said.
If you travel south of West Lafayette on 231 and drive towards New Richmond, I swear this is the route the film crew used for this scene. Its exactly the same as in 1985 (filming)...No urbanization or home building of any kind. Pure Hoosier country!

I encourage any fan of the movie to take an hour next time there in W. Lafayette to see the Buckeyes and travel down. Its chilling.
