I know he's stunk the last few years since his surgery but I have always liked him. I hope he never sees the field because I can't root for Cleveland.

Clevelands qb situation is no better than last season.

I doubt he even sees the field.

Strictly depth pick up and I guarantee Cleveland is still pursuing options trading for a starter.

This is based purely off my opinion and nothing else, but I would bet you are wrong.

Delhomme wouldn't sign in Cleveland to be a back up..he'd sign in Indy, New Orleans, etc. to be a backup...but not Cleveland.

It is purely opinion.

Delhomme is guaranteed a CHANCE at starting in Cleveland. He knows he doesn't have that chance going to Indy or NOR.

So he'll come here, get his chance which he won't win over the other QB's. He will stay with Cleveland for depth or be cut.

That's how it will go, book it.

This is the only time you'll see me agreeing with you. This signing is BAAAAADDDDDD!!!! I'd rather go into the season w/ DA and Quinn. Wow just wow...terrible!

Why is it stupid to bring in a player without giving up anything other than $$$ (which has no affect on you because its not yours)???

I'll never understand people bitching about moves like these. They either work out or he doesn't see the field.

They were releasing Anderson no matter what. They were not going to invest more money into a QB since he was due a bonus on March 19th. Teams wanted him but not his contract so that had to be re done which takes time. Have they traded Quinn yet? No. So Why complain about bringing in a player that YOU are not paying for?

The only reason its a bad move is because Delhomme hasn't played great lately. But its not going to hurt anyone or anything by bringing him in with the smallest chance of earning the starting spot. Its not going to get handed to him, he'll have to earn it. Highly doubtful but he just won't walk into Cleveland as the starter.

Exactly.

I don't expect anything out of Delhomme, but there is no reason why not to give him a chance this summer and in training camp.

It either works out or Lerner is out some $$$.

People are freaking out for no reason at all.

It'll probably be a competition that nobody flat-out wins and then they'll have to just pick. Then whenever the starter struggles he's always looking over his shoulder.

Not a good situation.

With Anderson/Quinn it was this way and they just brought in a new group of players to try the same thing.

I understand the whole stopgap thing, bot for christ sake, the guy is 35 and is finished!!!! Let quinn have the keys for the year and if he produces well it's a bonus and if not cut him next year. This signing has ignorance written all over it. I would think 9/10 fans would have to agree.

Delhomme is not a great player by any means, but he is an improvement over Quinn and Andersen, and that makes me ok with this move. As long as we continue to improve the roster, that's all i'm going to ask for.

What did you want them to do?

The only real starting semi available (if at all) was McNabb and Reid doesn't want to get rid of him. Other than that there really wasn't much available in terms of solid #1 QB material via FA.

Last time I checked Quinn is still on the roster right?

Last time I checked Delhomme wasn't named the stopgap starter right?
