looks like its coming down to a big matchup with hillsdale and norwayne. After seeing every team play now with the exception of chippewa and waynedale, I think hillsdale is going to roll in this game. They are the only team in the WCL that has a chance to move past the first round of the playoffs IMO. Norwayne, Dalton, Northwestern are decent teams, but nothing more. All have major holes in their game. Hilldale has the talent to win a couple games and should win the league outright.

I agree, i think hillsdale will role norwayne. If hillsdale shuts down norwaynes running attack then game over. Norwayne cant win a game by passing the football

props for being a div 6 playing in a div 5 league and playing little above avg. div 4&5 non league schools and winning 60 to 70% your gms you have a 70% chance making the playoff !! maybe you need to look at your non league gms before you down grade someone else schedule!!

Congrats to Hillsdale. The total annihilation of my beloved Huskies was a statement game. Once again, hats off to the better team.

All you guys wandering about playoff probabilities should check out Drew Pasteurs website. Never took time to learn the website link thing, sorry.
Anyway, it looks like Hillsdale pretty much has to win out, which they are easily talented enough to do. Right now (subject to change) the Falcons are projected to win 9 games and be seeded 7th playing at Collins Western Reserve in the 1st round. I hope this scenario plays out as WR is a preferable opening round opponent to Hamler Patrick Henry, Defiance Tinora and Archbold.
And yes, I hate to agree with turdbrush but he's right about Mapleton. You can't do anything about winless schools in your league (Chippewa) but you damn sure can avoid perennial 0-10 non conference teams.

Pasteur has Norwayne locking up a playoff spot with 8 wins. Looks like they will clinch if they get by Smithville. The big problem with being D5 R17 is Youngstown Ursuline. Not to mention Columbiana Crestview, who has given WCAL teams fits over the years and is also the Bobcats projected opening round opponent. (subject to change)

Dalton may sneak in to the playoffs (the NWN loss hurt), they also may need some help. Either way, opening against the likes of Mogadore or Wynford is a tall order.

Speakin of curb-stompin! Ouch! Way to put it to the Huskies. I dont even know where to start placing blame! I know- its my fault- I root for the Huskies-we get smoked, the Buckeyes-ditto, the Browns....they were gonna get crushed regardless. Anyway IMO the Falcons might have played their best against the Huskies- if they can put together two more weeks of play like that they just might get the elusive WCAL championship-wait a minute- we are talking about the mayor of Chokesville-the Hillsdale Falcons!!! Well good news Falcon fans I will now be rooting for you that way when you lose you can blame it on me and not on choking as usual! No where to go but up Huskies.

Yeah, if I was Dalton I would love the way the computer works as well. If you guys were in D5 reg 18, you would still be ahead of Hillsdale according to the computer points. But we all know what happened on the field, so you guys are right....
Dalton deserves to be in the playoffs over Hillsdale, or even Monroeville or St Paul. If Drew Pasteur had his way, we wouldn't even have a computer system. Doesn't matter, Im just glad the OHSAA went to 8 teams making the playoffs.

That's what you gotta do, schedule a div. II school that is average, and then a couple D IV schools, and you could go 7-3 and make the playoffs easy, maybe even 6-4 depending on how well those teams you beat did.

Hillsdale did make an improvement to their schedule by addind Delphos st. johns.

I know you don't want to hear it, but that is how we gets into the playoffs at 6-4. Strength of schedule.

Look at Steubenville..0-2 against Ohio teams (lost to massillon, and DV Ursiline mopped em up BAD)...BUT THEY PROB STILL HOST!!! Thats a perfect example of how can Ursiline sleep at night? Perrenial power , DV killing a powerhouse D-III.....hmmmmm, yeah thats a level playing field come playoff time...might as well just hand em the trophy!

Poland
Canfield
Warren
And that is just to name a few, does it surprise you a parochial school is beating up on teams?

no surprise....just more HORSESH....PEWP......And the beat goes on!!!

just says a lot when DV beats on a D-III POWERHOUSE like Steuby!!!

I know it isn't fair, and I think that's what needs changed. The ability for one team to beat up on bigger successful programs shows the unfair advantage that those schools do have. Trust me i played agianst Youngstown Mooney University.

totally agree, at least make parochial schools play up 2 divisions..for example DSJ D6 plays D4 playoffs....Ursuline would be in D3 playoffs

thats not going to make a difference they still going to win thats their normal schedule for both schools!!

if rittman can somehow sneak out a win against hillsdale and beat northwestern they will clinch a playoff spot! what a season for these guys!

thanks for making my point beverboy1. At least the games would be more competitive come playoffs. I know i would rather see Ursuline play the likes of a Stuebenville other than any of the D5 schools for a state championship game.

I guarantee more people would come to see Ursuline play a bigger school for a title, besides more of the small PUBLIC local schools would go farther in the D5 and D6 playoffs. Personally, Im sick of seeing the parochial schools winning all the time in D5 and D6.
With the exception of the MAC schools, there have been very few small public school champions.

Actually in Div V in the 30 year history, started in 1980, it is Public 18, Parochial 11 ( + 1 Col. Academy )
Div VI in its 16 years started in 1994 , Public 9, Parochial 7
Div IV in its 30 years since 1980 Public 16 , Parochial 11 ( + CAPE 2 & Col Academy 1 )
Div III in its 30 years Public 9, Parochial 20 ( + CAPE 1 )
Div II in its 30 years Public 22, Parochial 8
Div I in its 30 years Public 12 , Parochial 18
From 1972 to 1979 AAA, AA, & A
AAA Public 3 , Parochial 5
AA Public 4 , Parochial 4
A Public 5 , Parochial 3

So its been I & III where parochials have been the most dominating, but V & VI surprisingly Publics have had the edge overall. But if you take count of the total number of Public and Parochial schools, the fewer number has dominated but I am not sure how many there are of each total in the over 700 schools.

I am guessing 70 parochial out of 700 total , or 10% are parochial , and those 10% have won 45 to 50 % of the championships :(

Enough on the playoffs. What about this weeks games?
NW @ Waynedale - Bears can definately win this one if they show up and let it all hang out. Comparing head to head match-ups the Bears have fared better against Norwayne and Hillsdale than the Huskies.

Not sure the other match ups?
Dalton and Chippewa
Smithville and Norwayne
Rittman and Hillsdale
