I always do, even if I get terrible service--because I assume I'm the exception to the rule, not the rule itself.

I don't really believe in tips. I think they're BS. But that isn't the employees faults, it's the money hungry big guys giving them the checks with those policies. However, the employees wanted into that business. When we go to a resturant I'll usually leave at least 15%, but probably no more than 20% unless it's a small bill then I'll leave a bit more so I don't have to mix and match bills with the gf to get a decent amount. Sometimes I'll give a small tip to pizza guys. It does bother me that everybody looks at you like they expect a tip. It's not my fault you choose a below average job and depend on this money. I'm not a charity service. But I'll tell you what, if you make my experience quicker, easier, better, and you look like you've trying to enjoy your job then you'll get a tip. I don't go to bars often, but I don't ever tip at bars. I havn't spent more than 15$ at a bar before. But sorry, you're not getting a tip for reaching down and grabbing a cold beer for me. I do that about 24 times during summer nights by a fire and I don't tip myself for the hard work. I'd walk behind the bar and get my own beer if I could. But hey, I'm a young guy that doesn't make a lot of money quite yet, but when I do, I probably won't change much. You have to earn your tip, and being average won't get you much. Nor do hott girls that don't check up on you at all but expect to get a nice tip because of their tits. A girl at Fridays hasn't received a penny that past 2 times because she needs to be told to refill out drinks 3 times and get the steak sauce 2 times.. and give the leftovers to the right table, not the people behind us.

I dont think Ive ever NOT tipped. Even for things that dont necessarily warrant a tip (as in, it isnt a standard job everyone knows you tip for) like the guys that load kegs into the car, or the barber, etc.

Nah, it's actually Mr. Pitts. But close I suppose. Hey, I said that I tip. They just have to earn it, which isn't hard. If they do their job, they get a tip. If they screw up a couple times and act like they don't want to be there, then where is my motivation to further help them out? You get what you earn. I don't like the concept of tipping in those industries. I'd rather see those people get paid 10$ an hour instead of the 3.15$ +tips or whatever it is.

I'm very sorry the government taxes their tips, that's fucked up. That ain't my fault. It would seem to me that waitresses are one of the many groups the government fucks in the ass on a regular basis. Look, if you ask me to sign something that says the government shouldn't do that, I'll sign it, put it to a vote, I'll vote for it, but what I won't do is play ball. And as for this non-college bullshit I got two words for that: learn to fuckin' type, 'cause if you're expecting me to help out with the rent you're in for a big fuckin' surprise.

coyotes22 wrote: Ok, I delivered pizzas last night, for the first time in 7 years. I did pretty good in tips, as I was the only driver. I had about 12 deliveries and made $40 in tips.

So, my question is:

Do you tip the pizza guy?
Usually between 2.00 and 5.00 as I had a long pizza delivery career myself.

Retired from it at age 30 when gas hit 4.00 a gallon and pizza places still expected you to make 15 mile round trips at times but still only paid 1.00 on top of your tips.

Another thing that pissed me off and killed tips is when a pizza place charged the customer 2.00 for delivery but only gave the driver 1.00 of it.

The people who are prick tippers probably have never had to depend on tips before. I always tip 20-40% depending on the service. However, that tip will shoot down to about 5 % the minute a waiter/waitress asks, " Do you need your change?" after paying them for the meal. That really pisses me off regardless of how many drinks I have had as well.

Fortunately, this hasn't happened much recently and most of the time I get servers who are genuinely working their hardest to provide you with a nice experience.

Vegas rules the tip world... let's go through a few of 'em:
Dude in the line waiting for taxi
Dude/dudette @Taxi/limo/shuttle driver
Dudes @ Can't check in yet... store luggage until needed
retrieving luggage from said dude above
Dude @ Bellhop station
Bellhop
Dude in the pisser keeping people from smashing stuff up
Coutless cab rides
Dudes @ Valet
Dudes that open the door for cabs
Dude/Dudettes dealing blackjacks
Cocktail waitresses
(if one frequents shows involving breastses)
Dude on the take giving you a better seat at a "show"
Dude at the top of the stratosphere trying to keep people from doing the motherload of all swan dives, because they have no cash left
Dude waiting at Stratosphere elevator.... if you don't jump
on and on and on...
P.S.
Forgot the dudes loading and unloading golf clubs
Dudes cleaning clubs after round
and dudes loading clubs back up

Sounds like you covered most of the bases. :D

It kinda got to where I felt obligated to tip people that rang up my stuff at a gift shop.

I was downtown so had plenty of the bums hitting me up for change or cigarettes too.

This one guy bummed a cigarette from me then again the next morning when I was out, I said didn't I hook you up last night? He said no I was over at the MGM last night. LOL!

I didn't pass out more than 3.00 or a half a pack of cigarettes the whole 5-6 days because I stiffed a few requests.

There was this guy that bummed a pack of donuts from my cousin then 10 minutes later we see him talking to these 2 girls. I said didn't you just give this guy your donuts? He said yep. I told him we should intercept the 2 girls from the bum which we did and went inside the casino to drink when ole boy decided he had no chance and told us he'd get off our toes if we'd give him a couple of bucks for the road. I gave him 5.00 and he was on his way but caught back up with me several hours later saying he won 25.00 with that 5.00 and how great it was to be alive. LOL!

I tip. One time I tipped the driver a few bucks then he saw we were all drinking. We closed the door and I was like "wait stop him!" I grabbed a beer and threw it to him. He was much appreciative.

His reasoning was because people don't come to his job and tip him. I know he is my brother but wow that is probably one of the dumbest things I have ever heard lol.

Tell your brother that I bet he makes more than $2.13 an hour. It might have gone up some, but that's what waiter wages was when I watied tables about 10 years ago (regular min wage was $5.25 then).

Waiters basically only make tips as their hourly wage gets eaten up completely by taxes since they have to pay taxes on tips.

Delivery guys, thats even worse not to tip in my mind, the guy just wasted his gas in his car (wear and tear?) to bring you food.
