The simple answers are usually the best. "Shut up and play" comes to mind.

My kids go to Hebron Lakewood. We have won 1 football game the last 2 years. Not a lot of kids go out for football or consider it their primary sport. Our baseball team is very good, you can even hear kids hitting balls in the fall while you are at football games. Our girls are the 2 time defending state softball champions who went through many private schools to accomplish this. Our priorities are on the diamond. Now maybe a private school would get a much higher % of kids out for football but here baseball runs the show and not enough effort is put into football by kids, parents or the district.

I just don't agree with your plan of going to 8 divisions. I think 6 divisions are too many. I think 4 divisions would be a good amount. We miss out on some great potential playoff matchups as everything gets watered down by creating more divisions.

Maybe even three divisions. This would have the added benefit of satisfying the call for certain schools to "play up" a division.

So you are okay with schools like Walsh Jesuit fielding baseball allstar teams every year??

Face it, no matter how many of your kids in Hebron spend hours and hours practicing, it's pretty hard to overcome Walsh drawing from all over NE Ohio.

the turning away students is not a valid point either, especially in the smaller schools. for example Newark Catholic is darn near maxed out with students. its not a big school building and the bishop had a moratorium agains expanding. soooooooo, yeah things are going to have to give somewhere

It is whining! Also it is the same schools that are winning that people are complaining about. Even if they played up there would be complaints. Until there is a trophy for all schools like some of you guys are pretty much asking for then the whining will continue.

If the purpose of extracurricular activities is to teach by experiencing I say we teach them the following: life isn't fair. Competitive athletics are not fair. Roll the ball out there and play football. Match 'em up and watch 'em fall one by one until we have but ONE State Champion.

It's a game. Nothing more. It's in place to prepare you for life outside of HS. Either choose to participate in it or get out of the way so that those that are can play. The adults started ruining this game when they expanded the playoffs quite some time ago. I don't want to see the adults finish what they started.

No in all actuality I believe that it was expanded due to previous teams getting in off of name alone. With the current system that Ohio has you are able to see a lot of very good match ups that you would not have seen in the past.

I get so sick of hearing this "we pay tuition" crap. That is your CHOICE. You are not being kept from using your tax money by sending your child to the local public school. It's like choosing to use a toll road instead of the interstate and then complaining that you have to pay the toll, when you already pay taxes for the highway.

BTW, didn't a catholic school just get eliminated from the bball tourny for breaking violations??

How many have for football? Also there was a public school that got in trouble as well. It goes both ways dude.

I'm not the one pointing out that public schools are the ones caught.

Besides, since all private schools recruit EVERY student they receive, then it is kind of hard to prove that a player got recruited. If you're a private school and get caught "recruiting" then you must have really F'd up.

Not true either (BTW, I'm a public school guy who simply hates arguments based on untruths).

You want public schools to prosper...you want towns to support tax levys.....you want community pride to be a common thread....GET RID of PRIVATE schools form our tournaments. Period. Those of you who live in suburbia don't have clue what State Championship runs can do for community pride....and by community pride I mean a community dictated by geographics, not economics. You want to lump a bunch of kids together to make a great sports team then go play others who do the same. I have nothing against people who want to send their kids to private schools...good for them if that is what they choose...just don't pretend it is a level playing field. My kids live in small town Ohio and have to compete in one of their sports...swimming.... against Gates MIlls Hawken and University School...what a joke! They are as good as many DIII colleges. Let them compete against other privates and see how much fun they have. You will see the tides turning in a hurry if we put them in their own tourney. More kids will stray in their district.

I'm a public school guy as well I just hate people with an entitlement complex. Maybe that is why your teams can't win because they expect things to be handed to them. I also find it odd that the MAC can compete in multiple sports against all and they win. Maybe you need to pay them a visit and find out what their keys to success are. So you want the private schools to not be in your tournaments? But I bet your teams stil won't make it.

Come to NE Ohio and you may have a different opinion. We don't have a handful of privates siphoning athletes....we have an enormous amount compared to where you are. Demographics are completely different...I cannot speak for you..but I would guess you would have other thoughts if you really new the scenario.

And by the way...where I am from we have done just fine competing in multiple sports against our share of privates. I took a long time to think about where I stood on this subject. I respect all opinions and figure we have so many because we all live in different areas. I truly believe it would empower public school districts with the support generated from one town competing against another. We have that where I live and you very rarely see a bunch of kids all go to a particular school...not in their town....their would be mutiny! I want all towns to feel that way. It is hard to get the point across w/o being wordy? Hope you get my point.

Northwest Ohio is where I reside not where I'm from so my thoughts will remain the same. Where I'm from we play anyone make no excuses and win games.

I was a public school guy who now drives clear across NE Ohio every morning to put their kids in the private school of our choice.

I don't have different opinion.

I wish all sports were stripped from high schools and made into club sports anyway. I think due to the economics that's the direction we are going anyway.
