Can someone please explain to me the path for us to get to the gold medal? if we win today, who do we play next?

Is it single elimination now, or how does that work?

It's now an 8 team, single elimination bracket. Should the U.S. win today, they get the winner of Finland/Czech Republic.

If the US beats Switzerland today, they play the winner of Finland/Czech Republic in the Semifinals on Friday at 3:00 PM EST.

On the other half of the bracket, there is Russia/Canada and Sweden/Slovakia playing tonight in the quarterfinals. The winners of these two games will play one another in the second semifinal at 9:30 PM EST Friday.

Should the US advance to the finals, they get the winner of all of that Sunday at 3:15 PM EST.

US didn't play well, luck was against them, Hiller was pretty good, and we got hosed by the refs on what should have been our second goal. Glad that one is behind us. Gotta buckle down for tomorrow's game, it ain't the pee-wees anymore.

Better play better Friday than they did today. If not, the Czechs or Fins will put us away and into the bronze medal game. Canada is crushing Russia right now so it looks like they will move on for sure.
