First of all, my wife and I are a little older than most of you. We are from the era of Katherine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, George C. Scott, Gregory Peck, Bette Davis, and many others such as these. We watch a lot of the AMC Films and such and don't really go to a lot of movies in the theater today. That is not to say that we think all movies are junk or anything like that but we are not usually looking for special effects to determine what is and what isn't a good movie. We like a good plot, great acting, you know...things that are important to an entertaining couple of hours at the movies. We have been disappointed many more times than we have been entertained in the last couple of decades. We do like some folks. We both really like Sandra Bullock, we loved Walter Mathau, Jack Lemon, and Morgan Freeman is also at the top of our list of favorite actors, and there are countless others as well, but generally we watch the old films and really enjoy them.
I'm probably way younger than you or your wife, but I love the old movies. And that's why I'd probably be disappointed in the Robin Hood remake. IMO, nobody can touch Errol Flynn as RH and Olivia DeHaviland as Maid Marion, nor any of the character actors (Basil Rathbone or Claude Rains). Not interested in any of the others.
