This may have been brought up already, but the NHL has to loving this. A game like this cannot hurt the prospect of bringing the casual American fan back to hockey.....

Bettman was just on MSNBC's postgame show stating a bunch of bullshit reasons why the NHL hasn't committed its players to the 2014 games in Russia. God Bettman is such a douche and will do anything possible to ruin hockey.

Amazing. Didn't expect them to win, but awesome. I'm very impressed with the young US Team. Miller is a beast. What a game.

Also, big game by former Buckeye Kesler. Awesome empty netted.

Found this on HF. This is something somebody posted.
Heart. Thats what Americans like Ryan Callahan, Ryan Kesler, and Chris Drury have. That is why we won. Not because Brodeur sucked and you didn't have the right lines. We won because even though we are clearly outskilled we play harder, tougher, and tonight we put more pucks in the back of the net. Which is how games are scored you know, not by how badly your goalie played or how good ours played or how your coach doesn't know what he is doing.

Too bad they buried it on MSNBC. The execs at NBC should be dragged by a train.

The first person I thought of tonight while watching the game was The Crosby Show...and we've never met, lol.

Great game!

I think the only reason it was buried on MSNBC was because there are no in-game commercial breaks, and NBC didn't want to not have the ad money coming in on the mother station. Come the semis and finals though, they'll HAVE to put the games on.

Heh .. sucks. I had to find it waaay up in my HD channel lineup, away from pretty much every other station.

FWIW, I think the rest of the USA games will be on regular NBC.

Just finished watching the game and it was spectacular! Great hockey game between two great teams. Ryan Miller played a phenomenal game last night and kept the US in it all game long. The US defense did a great job of limiting the scoring chances for Canada. Gave up a ton of shots, but only a few really good chances, which Miller was up to the task in stopping. That second goal from Rafalski was absolutley huge to kill any momentum Canada had just gained. Also kudos to Ryan Kessel for that incredible effort on the empty net goal. Shows you how much that game meant for the Americans to beat Canada. A lot of work still needs to be done to get where they want to be but on the bright side, they would not have to see Canada, Sweden, or Russia until the gold medal game which is huge. USA USA USA USA

Side note, hopefully NBC was paying attention last night and realizes Olympic hockey does not take a back seat to ice dancing.

To be fair the hockey got a 14 rating while the ice dancing got a 13.

I think both would fluctuate if they were on the other channels, but factor in the ad revenue....NBC made the right call. This coming from someone who was flabbergasted last night at the choice.

Had the hockey game been on NBC, I imagine the number would have been even higher than 14.
