If this silly subject was looked at objectively one would easily understand it's lack of complexity. Only the unknowledgeable think Diebler is inconsistant when he doesn't score 15-20 points. When he was in high school his father/coach insisted he break the records he did. Since his father is no longer coaching him he doesn't give a shat how many shots he gets.

Do a little research before automatically hating. Almost every game when Diebler only takes 2 or 3 shots, it's a game when Buford or Lighty are having big games or Turner is having a HUGE game or some combination. Of the Big Four, Diebler is the only one who doesn't care if he never gets paid for playing the game. The other 3 are doing all they can to play at the next level. It's impossible for Turner to be the POY and at the same time Buford, Lighty and Diebler all score over 15 points in every game. AND at the same time give 3 or 4 bench players 10 minutes every game.

BTW, 6-8 Jerry Lucas averaged double digits in rebounds for his career. He will tell you being a great rebounder has very little to do with being "tough". He will tell you being "cerebral" is the single biggest asset a great rebounder can have. I bet Evan Turner would say the same. He doesn't get his rebounds because he's "tough" like Lauderdale. He gets rebounds because he's "cerebral". He's intelligent and has a knack for knowing where a missed shot is likely to go and positions himself in a specific spot around the basket accordingly.

But if Turner is constantly putting up huge numbers in assists and rebounds as well as points, shouldn't the guys around him be boasting similar numbers too? I'm just messing with you. I understand how good Diebler is, but I just can't utter the words that Jon Diebler is a tough player. I'll leave the toughness for Lauderdale (he's just a scary individual). By the way, with how much research you do regarding basketball, we should recruit you for research in science, you might have a bright future haha

He is vital to this teams success and chance of winning the Big 10.

Not sure where vital and soft mean the same thing....Yes, I totally agree that he is vital to this team. He is by far the best shooter and spreads the floor probably more effectively than any other player in the NCAA. I guess my designation of soft is in respect to some other players, which probably isn't the most fair characterization. The one thing I am certain of though, is that by watching many young guys play this game, I would in no way classify Diebler among the toughest. What I think of his toughness or what anyone else thinks of his toughness is irrelevant because he's good at what he does and knowing his role - regardless of what anyone says. Like I said earlier, i'll take a soft sniper anyday. He just needs to keep doing his thing.

I wasn't compairing his toughness to his being vital to the team. They really have no bearing on each other. I saw him play as a freshman all the way thru his senior year. (probably about 20 games) I saw him score 35 as a freshman in a regional final against an OG team that was one of the best teams in the state that year. I saw every kind of defense imaginable thrown at him. Teams tried to literally beat him up to get him off his game and wear him out. Nothing worked. His job at OSU is to shoot. In the OSU offense, he's very rarely in the paint. He is not a banger and never will be. But just because he isn't banging bodies in the paint, doesn't make him soft. Hell, look at his body. He's a skinny toothpick. But he's definatrely not soft.

I'm not so sure about that....supposedly Neutrogena wants him as their next skin model because his skin is so soft. I thought that's what we've been talking about all along? Maybe I just misinterpreted everyone I'm impressed with Jon's play and his development from his freshman year. He's an enjoyable player to watch (at least 90% of the time) and i'm excited to see him develop further in returning for his senior year.
