What the most bogus ticket you ever got?

I got pulled over in Louisiana at about 3am. He thought I was drinking and gave me all kinds of shit. I had not had a drop. Just finished up a service call and was coming back to New Orleans to get a hotel and fly home the next morning.

That SOB gave me a ticket for 42mph in a 40mph zone.

wow that's f'ed up.

i got pulled over once cause i accelerated too fast when a light turned green. the cop was right behind me at the red light and i didn't see him, i never actually was speeding though he just said it was unsafe. didn't get a ticket, just a warning.

Unnecessary vehicle noise. The particular cop had it out for me..just tried to find a reason to pull me over. He tried to say I was squealing my tires. Mind you..my car at the time was a 1988 Pontiac 6000 with the 2.4L engine. Yeah..that thing wasn't going to do that even if I tried! Fought that one..won. Still had to pay those damn court costs though. :@

While driving on the Ohio tpike, OSP stops me and tells me I was speeding(doing 65). I explain to him the truck I was driving didnt meet the gross vehicle weight to be driving 55. He asks for the truck info and my dl and goes back to his car. He comes back with a ticket for weaving within my lane. I think it pissed him off he was wrong about the truck and gave me a ticket anyway.

Following too closely in Kentucky. The guy in front of me was going like 40 in a 55. I accelerated to get closer to him before passing and the cop saw me. There was prolly 2 car lengths between us when I swung out into the passing lane. He pulled me over, and thought I had stole a bunch of tools, because I was coming home from a demo job in Lexington.

a guy followed me for almost 1/2 mile to stop me and tell me my headlight was out and procede to write me a citation when my headlight was clearly working....

When I was in high school this girl I knew and I had an accident at the stop sign just down from the school! I was going straight and she was turning left in front of me when we crashed. We both stopped at the same time and both thought we had the right of way, (which I still say I did since I was going straight). When the OSP got there I found out she was dating his son....of course the ticket goes to me. When I went in front of the judge and told my story he said, and these are his exact words, "You got hosed"! He said he had to leave it on my record but would waive the fine because the patrolman wasn't there. I only had to pay court costs of $35.

I once got a verbal warning for going 73 in a 55. I was on a country road and I was on my cell phone. The sheriff wasn't sitting there clocking people. He just happened to pass me at the time. As soon as I passed him I look at my spedometer and I'm like "shit" So I pull over because I know I'm caught. I look in my rear veiw and see him do a u-turn to come get me. He came to my window and asked for licisnse, insurance, and registration. Then he said "Don't think I need to ask why I pulled you over, huh?" Comes back a few minutes later and let me go with a verbal warning because he said my record was clean, I was polite and cooperated, and that I knew what I was doing was wrong.

I got a ticket in Jackson, TN for having a license plate frame--- you know the ones you get from the dealer that say something like "Germaine Ford".

I later spoke my deputy sherrif buddy who informed me license plate frames are illegal if they obscure any pertinent part of your plate. He said rarely does anyone enforce it, usually it is used as a probable cause for a search on someone who appears suspicious or fits a profile. My frame did not cover anything that it normally does not cover.

At my old job, we used to have Saturday morning meetings. One week, my manager had to switch the meeting to a Friday. I was running late, and was rushing to the meeting. I got to a red light and turned right on red, even though there was a sign that said "No Turn on Red During School Hours." I tried to explain to the officer that I was running late, and forgot what day it was because I was so used to going to these meetings on Saturdays.

He came back with a nice $150 ticket.

I guess that isn't really bogus because I did break the law. Just wish I could have gotten a little bit of a break because I honestly forgot what day it was.

An intersection went from right turns allowed on red to no turns allowed. I didn't know this, since there was no sign hanging and the one in the grass had been hit and was bent back into the ground.

Still got the ticket though, and unfortunately the listed court date was the exact time as a final exam I had to take.

when i was 14 i got pulled over on my moped...was given three citations for no helmet, not having my license with me, and license plate expired...none of which are moving violations....the ticket said the reason for being pulled over was i didnt signal my turn when i clearly used hand signals to do it...didnt even get cited for not signalling the turn...just another cop out to get those teenagers

ticket for not having my front license plate on, when the bracket had broken off the day before, and i had the plate, in the snapped off bracket and everything, with me. Just hadnt had time to fix it in those 24 hours.

I got one for rolling a stop sign where I am pretty sure I even stopped for a second. I hate to stereotype, but based on my experiences and all the ones listed here, cops are douches.

Back in the day when I had my baller honda civic :shy::rolleyes: I got a ticket for "excessive exhaust noise". My car was idling in a on street parking spot and the cop drove by, turned around and drove by again, then came up and blocked the lane of traffic and wrote me a ticket. I was 1 month away from turning 18, so I had to go to court (Delaware county). I researched the laws for days before going. I pleaded guilty but interjected that the cop used his discretion to "stop" me, but never tested my exhaust DB per the law (back then it was like 65 at idle and 85 on acceleration). The magistrate threw out my ticket. I couldn't believe it.

Another time I traded in my civic for a blazer 1 for 1 and my dad promised that he would get the registration swapped for me. 3 months later I got pulled over in Westerville for having black honda civic tags on a silver chevy blazer. That was fun. I ended up talking my way out of it.

I have to admit that I have never gotten a bogus traffic citation. Both of them were speeding tickets, approximately 20 years apart. One in California and the other in Ohio. Both times it was radar and both times I was speeding. Not a lot, but enough. I went to sleep at the wheel in Texas in 1965 and smashed into a telephone pole. I don't even remember what the citation read, but I'm pretty sure that one was deserved also. Other than that, my driving record is spotless although, "But for the grace of God, go I."

i was in german villiage a few years back and the bars were letting out. i was walking with a friend and there was probly like 25 other people crossing the street to go home. we were at a corner but it wasnt the crosswalk. as crossed there was a cop on the other side he asked me and my friend for our id's i thought he was just gonna see if we were 21 but he started writing a ticket... we both got jwalking tickets. of course we were very upset because it was like a million people at this point all jaywalking and you pick out two to give a ticket to?

my buddy definitly was more upset than i was. I basically just took my ticket and called the cop a few choice names. my buddy says he aint taking the ticket. the cop said he was going to hand him the ticket and if it dropped then he was going to add a littering ticket. which he did. funny part of the story is that my friend never paid either ticket and about a year later he broke down and when a cop stopped to help he ran his id and there was a warrant for his arrest.... this was a friday night and a holiday was on monday so my friend ended up in jail till tuesday when the judge came back on a jaywalking ticket lol

I got a $140 ticket for honking my horn...I honked at some idiot who wouldn't turn right on red after stopping for at least 10 seconds,and an off duty cop was next to me--he must've had a bad day,because he wrote me up and had another officer serve me with a ticket about a week later---I could've contested it,but with court costs and time off work,it wasn't worth it--it really sucked

I didn't get a ticket on this one but I thought this cop was F'd up!! I was leaving a club one night, I was driving, my dad, and buddy in the car with me. As I leave the parking lot a cop follows me out. Now I am thinking I am leaving a night club so he is gonna see if I have been drinking and try to get himself a DUI written up. Now I wasn't drinking, none of us did, we were at this club because I was fighting that night (we used to fight in night clubs here boxing and kickboxing). Sure enough this douche pulls me over. He comes up and I say is there a problem? He asks for the usual stuff and asks me to step out. I am thinking oh great this will be fun. He asks me a bunch of shit but I am thinking that he doesn't smell any alcohol on me so he knows he has nothing. I ask him, so what am I being stopped for? He says my plate light is out in the back. We walk around to the back of the car and guess what, my plate light is shining bright and fine. He says, I swear it was out must have a short in the wire you need to get checked have a nice night. I kept my mouth shut but I knew the guy was BS'ing.
