Just when you thought that the old windbag couldn't possibly saying anything more rediculious. He comes back out of the nursing home and prooves us all wrong again! I'm not sure what's more scary? The fact that some people actually take Pat Robertson seriously or that his advice has been sought out by our leader's in the past.

I had a nun at Toledo St. Francis tell our class that Hurricane Katrina was the result of sins. Sister Mary Carroll I think was her name.

When reading comments like this it's best to keep in mind a phrase sjmvsfscs08 lives by when he's dealing with people: half of us are below average. It's a fact, and Pat Robertson is proving that when it comes to common sense he's below average.

I was raised in a Christian home, with a Baptist Mom and a Methodist Dad who was an Easter, Christmas Christian when it came to church attendance. When my father passed away, I became a more "full time Baptist". I have never liked Pat Robertson's use of a "religious" program to spew his convoluted political agenda out on the airways. I don't think that my God sees things the same way Robertson's does, but I'm also quite sure that I am totally wrong and Pat is absolutely correct. I currently am not a regular church attender. When I married, I joined my wife's church and we went for years but we have sort of faded from the picture. That doesn't mean that I've turned into an atheist or an agnostic. It means that we just don't go regularly. If I started back, I'd probably keep going. It's not that I hated it or anything, it's just something we've gotten away from. Maybe this Sunday I'll go?? It's only a mile away...but then for Christian believers, isn't God everywhere?

Regardless of Mr. Robertson's profession the remarks he made are simply uncalled for at this time of great tragety. Given his profession the remarks are even more out of bounds. Glad I didn't vote for him back in the day when he ran for president.

I think Pat Robertson is off his nut. Completely.

BUT

Really, what he said isn't really that much more nutty than some of the stuff that non-believers spew out of their mouth.

So, to me... it's a wash.

Democratic leaders say worse things about the Tea Bag Party,Republicans and anyone who disagrees with Obama or their suppossed HealthCare reform.
Of course everyone ignores the fact that he is raising money and sending aid for the victims of this hurricane.
I don't follow Pat Robertson but I certainly am not going to judge him based on his thoughts about Haiti whether they are true or not nobody knows for sure.

This is what's wrong with out country. Someone does/says something obviously stupid and wrong, and then the kool-aid drinkers come out and say "well the other side does it too"...can't you just fucking call a spade a spade?

I'm not sure exactly what you're referring to, but I think in general it's a mistake to blame someone (in this case all christians) for something someone else said/did just because they have something in common. Wether it's because they have the same religion, nationality, skin color, etc...

I don't like these comments and I think the majority of Americans are appalled by Robsertson's comments as well. I agree with Bomar in that I am tired of people using examples of people on the other side of the political spectrum pointing out how the other party does it as well. Unfortunately, the media in this country give these people a soapbox (and other media are quick to point out the opposing viewpoint), which results in the country bickering about the other making the same statements.

Whether or not you believe what Robertson said, it is dangerous because it puts the idea of "they got what they deserved" into people's heads, thus making it easier for them to turn their backs on the many tragedies that occur. Unfortunately this has been used to "justify" many horrible events throughout history.

Quite honestly, I see your point, but I don't think it's necessarily so dangerous with Patty, because too many people know he's a few Froot Loops short of a full box for what he says to have any felt impact.

Haiti's main religion is voodoo. I'm surprised there aren't more religious freaks saying that's why this happened. Kinda like the great flood.

Haiti is a catholic country. It their official state religion. Over 80% Haitians are Catholics.
