From what I've heard and figure, this season is the battle for the iron throne then next season is the battle with the white walkers.
It's amazing how quickly this show progresses in comparison to The Walking Dead (which I gave up on after 3 episodes last season. They can get a lot of shit done in a 1 hour episode.

That makes sense, because they need to unite everyone to take on the WW.SnotBubbles;1863881 wrote:From what I've heard and figure, this season is the battle for the iron throne then next season is the battle with the white walkers.
I'm worried condensing so much is going to cause the quality to suffer. You basically built this all up over 60-70 hours, and now you're wrapping it up in about 1/4 of that.
Or maybe the politics angle is going to be as simple as Jon saying "look, I don't want the throne....let's take care of the WW and who's ever left living can battle for the throne".

I can only think of 1 way this show could end that I would hate. If they all come together to defeat the white walkers then at the end Cersei somehow kills off everyone to "win" the game of thrones.

Well, she doesn't have many allies....and WOULD make a fairly attractive Ice Queen.Rotinaj;1863924 wrote:I can only think of 1 way this show could end that I would hate. But practically speaking, I don't see how they'll have enough soldiers to battle the WW unless they reach some sort of ceasefire. I'm not sure there needs to be a huge battle for the throne, at this point, after we've had basically 6-7 seasons of that. I predict whichever hero survives the WW war, it will be Jaimie that bends the knee and all the other kings follow suit.

Her nudity was a saving grace for a scene that, otherwise, would have been overly long because of how nothing happened other than tits.
But it'd be pretty difficult to find a better saving grace!

I looked away during the part of that scene where I FULLY expected HBO was going to show us a eunuch's genitals.

Nothing?
I thought it was a pretty damn good episode. So much happened, but none of it felt forced or rushed. And tip of the cap to Tryion for the best, and most on-the-nose, line in maybe the entire series.
Although I was sort of waiting for Sam to tell Sir Jorah "and, by the way, when you see the dragon lady could you tell her to go melt the popsicles north of the wall? thanks, that would be great..."

I assume the "don't discredit something simply because you don't want it to be true" or whatever it was. But he had like 3-4 great lines that episode.SportsAndLady;1864664 wrote:Which line?

Great episode. I like how even with all that is going on they are still making time for the one on one dialogue that makes the show great.
Cutting to Jaime riding the horse with the Lannister army after they fled, with the music playing, was just vintage GOF. Chess pieces moving on the board.

Olenna went out like a G.
I love the Tyrion and Jon interactions. They are so true to each other.
I can't stand what they have done with Bran.
Team Cersei is laying a beating on team Dany.

Interesting contrast between his planning and Jaimie talking to Olenna about that war. It shows you that while Tyrion might be very smart, he's thinking politically and not particularly strategically (which makes sense, because he doesn't actually have much military experience). Tyrion thought Casterly Rock would be a big deal, but Jaimie was just like "ehhh, I'll take it back later".

And the way he's been out of the loop for however much time in GoT land that the fifth and sixth seasons covered (as well as most of the fourth, since he spent most of that time in the dungeons), not knowing that CR's gold mines are dry, so the place doesn't have the strategic importance to the Lannister's that he naturally would have assumed. Really, strategy-wise, Team Dany has had a few blunders, such as assuming House Tyrell's status as Lords of the Reach would outweigh the fact that House Tyrell is a dying house with one senior citizen left, making it easy to convince other Reach lords to side with the crown.gut;1864705 wrote:Tyrion may find himself in the doghouse...

You would think with Varys and the only Air force in westeros, they would have some info.Heretic;1864712 wrote:And the way he's been out of the loop for however much time in GoT land that the fifth and sixth seasons covered (as well as most of the fourth, since he spent most of that time in the dungeons), not knowing that CR's gold mines are dry, so the place doesn't have the strategic importance to the Lannister's that he naturally would have assumed. The Air Force might not be that helpful because, other than Dany, I don't know if there's anyone that can ride them safely and this episode they did at least address that with people saying she was too important to risk by having her lead anything from a dragon.superman;1864719 wrote:You would think with Varys and the only Air force in westeros, they would have some info.
Varys is a different story. Makes me wonder if that Ep 2 discussion with Dany calling him out on how he's betrayed every single monarch he's advised might have significance going forward. Crazy, stupid Viserys was his first choice and she was the afterthought to be sold off to give Viserys his army and then nearly was assassinated when she started to make her move. Makes me wonder if he's thinking someone else might be more deserving of the throne and is still playing his games so both Dany and Cersei weaken their forces. But that might just be me projecting because in the books he is backing another candidate (a book-only character not appearing in the show) and is more creepy and sinister, while in the show, he's generally been portrayed as the better version of Littlefinger, where both are scheming information brokers, but he's shown as trying to make things better.

There were like 2 or 3 lines about Jon's brooding. I don't remember the exact quote. Look it up yourself.
