I think Rosenhaus (think that's his agent) fucked him too giving him the impression his value was more than it was. A lot of negative can be said about analytics but it looks like the Browns value on his worth was pretty much on the money. Way too many egos involved with this. Rosenhaus probably eventually realized he screwed the pooch and tried to scale TP's expectations down but by then the ego probably took over so he took less guarantee, betting on himself. This is some speculation, on my part, (along with some things that are already out there) but I bet it's not far off.
And you're right about them moving on with the Britt signing. Sounds like they just changed the name on the contract from Pryor to Britt, with the amount offered.
They are showing a pattern of this and it's the way more teams SHOULD deal with these players. "You have until 'X date' to accept this offer or it's off the table or will decrease." Schwartz & Pryor tested the waters, realized their market value wasn't what they expected, and when they came back to the Browns, the offer was off the table.
