Exactly what I've been saying. No way does penn st deserve to be in the playoff unless they win the big ten and Washington and Louisville both drop a game. Hell I think they might have a better case than Washington. but how hard of a pill would it be to win the big ten championship, have one loss, beat OSU, yet stay home when the one loss team you beat, OSU, made it?

Glad to see Colin fighting for OSU, but I don't think his argument is really comparing apples to apples, is it?
He uses the comparison of the NFL,NBA,NCAA using wild cards and at larges. The difference here is that in those sports, the conference/division winner is still getting into the playoff/tournament. In this case, the wild card/at large is getting in INSTEAD of the conference winner. That's a big difference.

I think his point was more that wild cards win championships in every sport, why can't a "wild card" in cfb win it? Clemson's loss is worse, IMO, than Michigan's. Louisville moves up just based on not losing.

The remarks made by the ESPN analysts made me feel a lot better about an 11-1 OSU getting into the playoff WITH the B1G Champion. Seems like they think the PAC12 and Big 12 are basically out unless Washington runs the table and looks good doing it. Bama, Ohio State, Clemson, B1G Champion is what they're favoring at the moment. Louisville and Washington are probably huge Michigan fans right now.
It's possible that the #4 spot could potentially come down to a 2 loss B1G Champ, Louisville, and Washington.

Little surprised Michigan was still in the top 4, but I think they just took the easy way out knowing OSU/MI will battle it out with the loser dropping out.

I hate Michigan...but they do have 3 wins vs. top 10 teams now. They're loss was away at night. Their wins are MUCH better than Clemson,Lville,& Washington. I can see why they'd stay there. No doubt that WC teams have won many championships in the past. Many times because they havent clinched early and arent coasting like some teams who rest guys. BIggest difference though, those sports have a legit process in place for those teams to earn the wild card spot. It's not the "Tournament of Champions". A league title is one more data point among the rest for the members to place the amount of importance they see fit.

My bad, I meant those sports in the pro ranks that have WC teams win it all there is paramters, but college it is just subjective of course.. If OSU gets selected without going/winning the B10 game I would consider them a "wild card" team to a point.SportsAndLady;1824950 wrote:? What am I missing here? Potentially big game tonight between Houston and Louisville. If Louisville comes to play like they did against WF last weekend, and Houston gives some sort of effort, they'll get beat. It'd be nice of future Texas Coach Herman to completely eliminate the Cards from playoff contention tonight.

Louisville didn't look good against Wake Forest either. Houston definitely has the offense to hang in there.
