I was in San Antonio for the Alamo bowl. We spent 99% of the time we weren't at the game at the river walk. I think we were there 3 days and had steak 5 times. We ventured away from the river walk once looking for an atm and the rest of the city was nothing special that I could see. Someone else may have better recommendations but we were happy to pick different restaurants along the Riverwalk with outdoor seating. I also took a boat tour in the Riverwalk and that was OK.

Thanks for the info. The river walk area looks pretty cool. I might also rent a car and drive to Houston or Austin and leave from there.

Yeah we had a plan to go last year and we just didn't get around to it. I have a feeling this time might be the same haha. We've talked about waiting and just doing a Grand Canyon trip to where we do something like this and also stay down there for a couple of nights.

Houston is not worth visiting. But, might be easier for flights than Austin. Austin however, one of the most fun cities you will ever encounter.

San Antonio...yeah, as has been mentioned, just stay on the River Walk. It's really cool, but the rest of the city isn't that great.

The draw to Houston is a good college friend lives there.

I have been in Texas for 3 weeks now and will be for a week or so longer. Did spent a day in SA and The Alamo was really cool but extremely touristy around it. Imagine if you dont go with kids you wont get them nagging to go into all of those places. River walk is phenomenal and I can about imagine it when the weather gets great. There was another Mission we went to fairly clsoe that was much more in tact than the Alamo which was really cool. Check out the Japenes tea Garden while you are there as well as it was pretty cool.

Houston sucks.

It may suck, but at the very least it has a ballpark that I've never been to.

Minute Maid or whatever it is called now is a pretty cool stadium. And the team doesn't suck like when I went. But yeah, not a fan of the rest of downtown. NRG is nowhere near anything. The driving/highway system is confusing as fuck.

Thanks! This is one of the areas we're looking pretty hard. There are some VA clinics out that direction that my wife may be able to transfer into. It's tough to find a place from 1200 miles away.

Because we planned/paid for our wedding last year, we didn't get to take our annual baseball trip. We are leaning toward two long weekends in Detroit and Pittsburgh this summer. We also have friends who moved to South Dakota last year, so there has been talk of visiting them and road tripping to Minneapolis as well. Pretty jazzed to get back to it.

We got about 8 inches over the the first 2 days. Aside some shit visibility during the mornings, best conditions I've ever been in. Amazing tree runs on the whole mountain. Also, minimal lines.

I saw a ton of Colorado over the past few weeks. We drove from Denver to Buena Vista, Salida, then Pagaso Springs.

On Sunday on the way back to Denver we checked out the Great Sand Dunes. AWESOME sight, had no idea it even existed before this. My sister is getting her engagement pics there in the spring so she wanted to check it out.

In LA for work this weekend. Got stuck overnight in Atlanta after the tornados on the way out. Atlanta still behind on flights tonight. Already delayed till 12:30am. All I want to do is be home by 3pm to watch the Masters.

It helps that I have been an elite traveler for 3 years now. Year 1 earning status was rough when this happened. Now, its first class 75% of the time, Delta SkyClubs with free booze, etc.

The worst seat I've had in the last 3 years Delta Comfort Aisle, not counting a few standbys I flew to get back sooner.

Going forward, I'm gonna hate you just a little bit. I've yet to fly first class on the company tab ... for any company. The best I've had was one of them always springing for the bulkhead for me.

Been in three different countries the last couple of months and possibly into another 1-2 in the upcoming months. Had some of the local cuisine that was not too bad. A couple places lead to severe digestive issues so I try to very cautious.

Hot as fuck, 90 by 9am and humid as hell.

Will possibly check back in again in a few months or this fall. Enjoy my absence.

Companiy never pays for it, the clients do. Certain networks/clients are very good about giving us our preferred airline no matter the cost (NBC/CBS), but nobody ever pays for first class. Simply catch the upgrades most of the time as Diamond.

I don't travel at all for work now, but I did once get to fly business class (there was no first class) to India. $10k ticket that the client had to cover. The worst part is that it was an old ass United plane so not like any of those new fancy first classes like you see on tv or in magazines. It was still pretty cool though.
