I get the Veteran discount right, plus the standard reduce rate, over 65 rate, AAA discount and the local paper coupon discount.... that adds up to free balls4cards;1774000 wrote:...belly, I figure if I'd hit the lotto, I'd buy a very nice golf course that would include a bed/breakfast and just enjoy working and playing at it. You and BRF would be welcome to play (at a reduced rate)

Owning a golf course would be a fun idea.. but my friend in college dad owned a small course in Lima across the street from a public swimming pool can't remember the name of it. I had to help him after a storm to do some tree removal, golf course can be a lot of work..4cards;1774026 wrote:...ok cheapo, just pay for the cart!

I'm surprised a liberal is encouraging a regressive tax on the poor and stupid.BoatShoes;1773948 wrote:Sleeper is treating the decision to buy a lottery ticket as if it were an investment when as you point out it is a consumption expenditure. Sleeper buys Bud Light bottles and fantasizes about beating the guts of d.c. bar chicks. Other people buy a lottery ticket and fantasize about buying stupid shit.

If I'd win the lottery I've thought about buying a golf course too, or buying land and designing a new one. …and the grounds crew would do all the work!Belly35;1774040 wrote:Owning a golf course would be a fun idea.. but my friend in college dad owned a small course in Lima across the street from a public swimming pool can't remember the name of it. I wouldn't stop with the golf course - I'd want to do a whole planned community around it (not the houses, just the land/lots and development). Not the assembly line mediocre planned developments you see throughout the country, but one with incredible grounds and landscaping. Obviously Powerball wouldn't be enough money, though.

What pisses me off is how rarely I hit ANY numbers. For the big ones like this, I usually buy $20 and it's not uncommon to get 3 numbers TOTAL on the 10 tickets. Powerball is even rarer - of course, it's like 1 in 60 or whatever then if I play half a dozen of these a year I might get one powerball!sherm03;1773990 wrote:I always say I'm going to get a few tickets when the jackpot gets this high. Then I forget. We'll see if I actually buy a ticket or two by Saturday.
Of course, getting so few numbers is basically how these things get so big. Kind of puts the odds into perspective a little.

The odds of getting at least one number is only 12.2%. So, yeah, 1 number on 10 tickets would be about average.Heretic;1774073 wrote:lol, yeah, I consider it a minor victory if I get one number.

Yes. Yes I will. Then I will pull a Tiernan and say that some part of the deal wasn't met so I don't have to pay.
