I pass numerous corner stores on my daily commute....on foot. Zero cost. I also play <5 a year.

Thanks for the breakdown though, that $14 could really come in handy when I'm 70!

Lol, yeah, I have a drive-thru and a gas station that I go directly past on my drive home from work. Wooo, I'd be really adding on the miles and wear on my car to get that ticket! I should just grab $2 and start an IRA with that money. I can already feel the pennies coming in!

I would already consider myself "loaded".

Not nearly as much as I'd like, sure, but I'm also not delusional in thinking I'm going to make any remotely positive ROI by playing the freaking lottery. I'm more interested in optimally building wealth.

Fortunately for myself, I don't think about the ROI on $2 either. We both win!

I'm going to short my AEP bill 20 bucks to play. I hope they don't shut my electric off. But as soon as I win, I'll just buy AEP.

And this is the only time I play. Only when it's a ridiculous amount. Buy a few tickets and sit back & dream. Not going to win anyway but fun to think about.

Not mad. Just being the voice of reason in a sea of ignorance.

No Con Alma would say...

"Why would you think I'm mad? To be mad you would have to assume this would affect me personally, which it does not. I'm merely suggesting what I would consider to be reasonable for me. I would never assume what is reasonable for you. "

As far as office pools go, you pretty much have to throw some money in because you don't want to be the one left out when everyone comes in and quits.
This. I'd be more upset if the whole office won and I missed out than if I saved the $5 or $10 we chip off when the jackpots get huge.

There's a bit of a difference between: (1) Waste $2 on a gambling deal where you have a .00000000000(infinitely more zeros)1% chance of winning more money than you'd know what to do with and (2) Waste $12 to chat on a dying message board where some dipshit is looking for a chance to ban anyone for anything because his undies are stuck too far up his overweight moron ass where you have no chance of winning anything unless they're still giving out free copies of that stupid magazine no one gave a fuck about.

The cheaper money-wasting action at least gives a dream of success; the more expensive one can't even provide that.
