I've made this comment before...the advantage that the Browns have over the other teams in the division is "makeup speed" in the draft. Because the other divisional teams are so talent laden, they can draft guys that may not make an impact every down. For instance, if the Steelers draft a pass rushing OLB with their #1 pick (highly doubtful), what are they going to do, bench James Harrison? Two players can't be on the field at the VERY SAME position at the same time. The Browns have Cribbs, Mack, Thomas and Eric Wright, IMO as their best players. Any upgrades they make with youth are going to help get them up to speed faster.

As far as the QB situation, I'd rather they bring in a vet for 2 years and draft a Lefevour, Pike or Skelton later to groom for the future. Quinn and the Browns need to part ways.
As a Dolphins fan I disagree that you have the best LT, but you have a damn good one. I think the browns should take a sam young or ciron black.

i love lefevour in this draft could be a steal.
They have already had extensive talks with Ciron Black.

We'll have to agree to disagree on LT though. ;)

Long is fantastic. Don't get me wrong. But Thomas has the edge.

I see no way DA will be around with his contract and bonus that is due.
Quinn does have a favorable contract, mainly due to not hitting playing bonuses.

The roster will probably be

A marginal veteran
Quinn
A 5th or 6th round project

In regards to your response, I think you ignorantly judged brady in your reposnse when you said he hasn't proved he deserved to be a first rounder. I don't think the ship has sailed completely on Brady, but bringing in a first round pick with all the hoopla is going to be the same thing that happend when we drafted brady, and I think Bradford is not worthy of a first round pick, and to have expectations of him (or any QB) to come in a perform like a Joe Flacco or a Matt Ryan right off the bat is nuts. Thanks for supporting my point.
The flaw in the thinking on guys like Flacco are that they fell into the perfect storm. Ryan was an exception.

Flacco and Roethlisberger came into situations where they had outstanding running games and shutdown defenses. They were only asked to throw the ball 15-18 times per game..."game managers" if you will. You put Roethlisberger (who is no longer a game manager) or Flacco on teams like the Lions, Browns, Rams, etc and they are nowhere NEAR as effective. They walked into ideal situations where they really didn't have to go through too many growing pains.

A QB like Bradford, Clausen, etc would likely sit for a year behind a veteran until the pieces were in place. This is where they screwed up with Tim Couch. They did it ass backwards. The got the QB and WR's before they got the O-Line and running backs.

I'm not opposed to bringing in a veteran, I've seen enough of DA to think he'll be a perrenial back-up...

I'm still not ready to throw in the towel on Quinn, not that he's shown any true promise, because frankly he hasn't. For one, he hasn't entered the season with the confidence of a coaching staff behind him. This pressure could have detracted from his ability to perform at the level required, but it's not an excuse for sure. Secondly, Dabol hasn't done him any favors in the playcalling department either. Hell, he didn't do anyone any favors, I think he's the weakest link in the Browns offense currently, though I will admit he hasn't had the talent to accomplish much, there's no excuse for some of the play calling. Lastly, the injury bug has gotten to him as well. It's hard to find a rhythm when you've only managed to string together 5 starts consecutively.

All that said, he still may not be the answer, but I just don't think I personally can base his potential on what I've seen thus far, and I could care less who the QB is as long as they're productive.

Generally you're NOT going to base a body of work on the limited time that Quinn has played but there are certain things like accuracy issues & fragility that are definite red flags. He may stay healthy but I just don't see the accuracy issues improving. That was one of the reasons he dropped like a rock in the draft.

In the WCO, which they will eventually be running, accuracy is a key factor. I initially had no problem with the "dink & dunk" nature of Quinn's game but when the "dink and dunk" became half a "dink" 3-5 yard passes and 13 completions for 72 yards, that's when I had enough.

We've got a guy who can nail the 45 yarder but no one to throw it to and a guy that can hit the 5 yarder on 3rd and 8. Perfect.

Like I said, I'm not opposed to bringing in a vet, just need to dump one of them.

Pretty much sums it up. As I've said before, attach Quinn's head (and work ethic) to DA's body and you'd have a prototype.

With Holmgren leading the charge if I had to choose I'd take Anderson over Quinn. I think Holmgren might be able to fix DA but he's not going to give Quinn arm strength.

Not a fan of bringing in Hasselbeck.

With the NY Jets connection that Mangini has, there is belief that the Browns may have an interest in the Jets' Leon Washington. Apparently the Jets organization is painting a much rosier picture of Washington's injury prognosis. It's believed that it could be a "Michael Bush type" injury and Bush' injury took 2-3 years to recover from.

Word is, if Derek Anderson is willing to restructure his contract that the Arizona Cardinals may take him off our hands for a 5th rounder. I think DA would thrive in that offense and probably beat out Leinart.
