Ginn comes off as a snake oil salesman in some ways. What is put out there as keeping the kids clean is basically running an athletics factory and the kids are given a free pass and don't learn shit in school (see Cardales famed tweet)

Honestly, this press conference was probably just Cardale doing him a solid and getting Glenville and Ginn some publicity/recruiting edge

It was no accident that quarterback Cardale Jones announced he would return to Ohio State at Ginn Academy on Thursday. Jones' former high school served as a backdrop in part to show the current Ginn students what is possible with hard work and dedication, and how important education is to Jones.Coordinating the event was Ted Ginn Sr., the namesake of Ginn Academy and the football coach at Glenville, the team for which Jones played his high school football.

This wasnt to showcase importance of anything other than his good ole buddy at Ginn Academy, and cardale himself, wanted some publicity
The kid was being talked about non stop..he didn't need publicity.

If Ginn was looking for attention wouldn't he have been sitting at the table today?

If some of the hangers on talked him into holding a press, conference for this, I advise him,to,shed those people ASAP. Seemingly good kid, but terrible idea.

No shit! The kid is an unprecedented story in the history of college football. If he just tweets that he is coming back, he's gonna be requested for about 500 interviews. This way, one presser for about 20 minutes and it's done. Being way overblown.

Jones start and put Braxton and JT at slot back and rotate them in and out.

I totally agree with you. Everyone who says it was for attention and then throws Ginns name in it is a absolute moron.

Depth chart next season...

1. Braxton
2. JT
3 Cardale.

No matter what Cardale did...Urban will go right back to this.

Braxton is the only one of those 3 capable of playing slot back...and he would be really really good at it, unfortunately he thinks he is a QB.(and he is a very good college one)

1) Miller will see no reps until fall.
2) Barrett's reps in spring will be limited.
3) Jones looks like a Cam Newton/Dante Culpepper skill set and just won three HUGE games.
4) Miller might have a china doll shoulder and won't be able to throw.

Ergo- Jones will be the starter next year, Barrett will see game day reps, this team should blow a lot of teams out early.

Not sure this is a smart move on Jones part. Most NFL people say he would go between 2nd and 4/5th round. I think he is taking a huge gamble. I'll gaurantee Meyer made no promises. If Jones doesn't win the starting job, there is no way he would be drafted that high in the future. Even if he does win the starting job, he may not get drafted that high after the NFL has time to study and break him down. Which they do with all players. On the other hand, yes he could go higher. But, that is all the chance he is taking.
Anyway, this 3 way QB thing will be talked about to death until August when Meyer names a starter. I still lean to JT. The guy had an unbelievable season. You can't discount what the kid did for 12 games this year. People keep saying, "but look, Jones won the title". Well, OSU would not had been in the position they were without JT. So he helped put them there, over an entire season. That can't be discounted. But Jones has certainly earned the opportunity to make it a competition. No question.

Jones added a dimension to the offense that JT couldn't. He took the lid off the defense, which is part of why Elliott ran for 200 yards in the final 3 games. Also Jones is built to play in Urbs offense where the QB gets hit 30 times a game. I agree that Jones probably should've jumped...but maybe he really has turned the corner and his degree is most important to him right now. He can have it by this time next season and NFL scouts will still want his size, arm, etc.

This is pretty simple... Jones has shown what he can do. If he doesn't win the starting job, he gets his dregree, and transfers wherever he wants, where he'll get the starting job. There is no way, unless injury, Jones does not make it to the NFL, IMO.

Well... not only injury, but also if these last 3 games were a fluke, and he completely sucks from here on out, wherever he ends up.

Anyone care to translate what Jones did in 3 games into a 12 game season comparison to JT? (by the numbers)

Could also be said that everyone else, including Elliott cranked things up, to make it easier on Jones. Which I could tend to go with going into the games they were going into. Its common sense in football, to know that if you are able to run the ball, that that will open up the passing games. Teams go into games wanting to run first, pass second.
Again, I am not ripping on Jones at all. Kid did amazing things. But other players stepped up their games. Some of the passes caught by WR, were amazing catches. As Meyer often says, the QB is a product of those around him in this offense.

Thats bullshit considering the numbers JT put up passing and running. As well as the numbers the offense put up overall for this team. Miller did it, JT did it and now Jones did it. All pretty consistant when you look at the overall numbers.

And thats just it, you can't do this. JT, in fact, did it. No one knows what JOnes would have done. So its not worth speculating on. JT had to "grow" with the rest of the team, mainly the offensive line. Jones stepped into a well oiled machine. JT had to go thru the bumps and bruises of an inexperienced oline early in the season. One that was quite frankly, not very good. Jones never had to deal with that. Many, many variables we are talking about.
