Percentage wise it is a proven fact that those that succeed at one level will percentage wise do better at the next level. that is true in every facet of life, including pro football. 100% of the time....as in every time, a higher percentage of people will be more successful if they were more successful at the previous level of competition. It is not open for discussion and it is not open for debate. If you are an All American in college then your chancre of success in the NFL is markedly higher than if you were not an All American.

Let's put it another way. Number one draft choices....as in 100% of the time... have had collectively...longer and better careers than let's say...number 5 draft picks. And it will remain that way 100% of the time for future drafts as well. If Fat boy, Saleum a lhshemp can't understand that, then a course in prob and stats is strongly recommended.

So what does that mean? It doesn't guarantee the 19 year old Heisman Trophy winner will be successful, but the propensity for him to be successful is higher than quarterbacks that were drafted in later rounds. This is a statistical fact that is accurate 100% of the time.

Let's put it another way...Idiots need more than 1 example.

The odds of rolling snake eyes in a craps game is one in 36. The odds of rolling box cars (2 sixes) are only one in 36. The odds of rolling a combined number of 7...is only one in 6. The Browns have 8 guys leading their positions in pro bowl votes (you can subtract 2 if you don't want to count special teams and punter). Skrine is the #4 CB, so he should will make it. If Mack played all year, we were looking at 10 pro bowlers. 10 Pro Bowlers and we probably won't make the playoffs SMFH.

Basically said Pettine played this perfectly with hoyer and manziel because now, manziel can only be the savior. Most people realize they aren't making the playoffs at this point so at this point manziel can only do something amazing or just play the final 3 games with no backlash from the fanbase. All about coddling these guys egos and this allows manziel not to feel the pressure of "failing the team" in his first year.

Said if he would have started vs Indy and lost, it would have been "we had a chance at the playoff and Johnny lost it" now it's all on hoyer, who isn't in the future plans with the organization.

There's no downside. If you're still holding out hope for playoffs, which would be understandable at 7-6, then the team is in obvious need of a spark.

If you're conceding the season, which would also be understandable since we are 4th in the division and 12th in the conference due to losing every tiebreaker, then its time to look to the future.

I'm not so sure that Pettine played it perfectly or that he was so much in love with Hoyer being the "safe' choice that he found it hard to let go.

Ok, but I doubt Pettine had any "plan." He rode Hoyer for as long as he could and didn't have a choice. If he went forward with Hoyer and they continued to lose, while they still had a small chance, it's likely Pettine's neck on the line more than Hoyer's, for being a stubborn dumbass ala his mentor Rex Ryan. I think that Pettine would've loved to stick with Hoyer but he had no choice because Hoyer was that bad.
