6 things learned from Browns training camp....

http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/article-5/6-things-we-learned-at-Browns-training-camp/d171f5ee-4c52-45e0-8072-ca7e23448f15?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=cleveland-browns

Interesting comments on the WR position. Imagine if Gordon was still in the mix? I hope Shane Wynn lands a spot on the roster as I'll be surprised if they can stow him away on the practice squad. I kinda chuckled at the Mayle comments.....

With Bowe, Hartline (no matter what DPN guy says), Benjamin, Hawkins are locks to make the team. That leaves Gabriel, Wynn, Pryor, Lenz, and Mayle vying for one (?) spot. I can't imagine them keeping 7 WRs, though Pettine did say that Moore will be playing more WR this yr, and not just be a PS guy. Going to cut some good players it seems.

Gabriel isn't getting cut, you can take that to the bank.

Yeah I'd prob agree with this. Wouldn't say lock but like 85%. If pettine is being honest about Moore, not sure how we keep any other WRs.

Unless Pryor gets on the field Saturday night, I think he's gone.

Sounds like no Johnny Saturday night (elbow) according to Pettine.

Also sounds like Farmer is doing some due diligence on Connor Cook....

No, I just couldn't care less about scouting the 2016 draft when we're on the doorstep of the 2015 season.

So while I don't "have a problem" with it, unless you plan on posting an article every single time there's news about scouting someone for the 2016 draft, I find it completely pointless.

Sounds like JFF's elbow issue could've possibly screwed any chance he had at making this a competition. Unless Pettine was lying, he said he had intended for Manziel to run with the 1's through the 2nd and possibly 3rd quarter Saturday night. Still think Pettine would've gone with McCown but JFF may have been able to make it interesting.

JFF probably out 4th game too. The more I think about this offense, the less wins I see. Hopefully I am wrong.

I don't know how anyone can be optimistic with McCown back there. Defense should be fun to watch though.

Hawkins, Gabriel, Wynn, Lenz are all pretty close to the same skill set / position. How many under 5'9" slot receivers does the team need?

If Johnny and Josh both go down with an injury who is the 3rd option? Didn't Shaw just have thumb surgery?

Thad Lewis, Pat Devlin, and they would sign somebody before going to Pryor.

Wow. Shocked Pryor can't beat out Thad Lewis at the QB position and TBH I have no idea who Pat Devlin is.

Well, in college, Pryor was more a pure athlete that played QB than a pure QB. Essentially Tebow without all the slobbering over him, and Timmy didn't exactly last forever as a viable QB option in the NFL. I think a lot of teams would rather try out no-names that happened to be a more traditional QB than an athlete-QB, simply because their skillset fits into the average NFL offensive scheme more than a guy who's known more for tucking the ball and running at the slightest provocation than his drop-back passing game.
