Just look at McCown and Hoyers stats with/without a play action. It is pretty damn telling. They are one in the same, but the big difference is McCown is willing to mentor JFF at least and no create any divisiveness. If you think having Hoyer is the difference between us making/missing the playoffs, you're delusional. I am willing to bet Mallet takes over the starting spot at some point this season.
It wasn't even a rant about McCown vs Hoyer, it was WAY deeper than that. I said myself that Hoyer was NOT the savior, we all know that. He did though have a winning record as a starting QB, numbers unfortunately do not lie, but the fact I watched him shit down his leg a few times last season didn't lie either. All I was trying to get across is that we desperately need to find a bell cow at the QB position. I honestly think we have a very nice young team building up there on the lake, but the primary cog missing is consistency at quarterback. Hoyer could only get us "so far" so to say. We need to actively look for the person who will get us farther, develop them with patience and coaching, not a baptism by fire, and stick by them. (on a side not I think it is going to be hilarious watching a 5'8 QB throw to multiple 5'8 receivers at some point this season, it will be like the circus came to town.)
