Probably best for lhsprep but just watched them interview Houston's new GM...lol he seemed very computer nerdish and they mentioned he is one of the new hires this year and the league is going to more analytics and advanced metrics with their GM's. I get how Billy Beane does it in baseball helping the A's keep a low salary and often make the playoffs but never advancing....how is such a GM expected to get Houston over the hump and into the WCF and even winning it? The analytics and metric seem harder to use to work into a strategy than in baseball.

Any thoughts to help me along here? Thanks

Minnesota in triple OT leading by 1 and their top scorers tonight Parker and Mayo are on the bench (not in foul trouble?)

Not at all actually. The most valuable shots are 3's, free throws, and close 2's. That's pretty much exclusively what Houston is doing.
Their Moreyball efficiency philosophy – which I would describe as “if card counting were a spectator sport” — has them leading the league in made and attempted 3s (104 and 258, respectively) and in percentage of total shots that are 3-pointers (43 percent!!!), and they’re third in the league in free throw attempts and free throw rate (234 free throws and a .408 free throw rate). No team in the league takes fewer long 2s; just 7 percent of Houston’s shots are in the range between 16 feet and the 3-point line. They are the Sloan Conference in shorts and sneakers.

At the same time, being as efficient as possible on offensive won't advance you out of the WC unless you can play some defense. This year the Rockets are doing that with a more spry Howard and upgrading from Parsons to Ariza on the wing. Not to mention Harden has (so far) tried a lot harder.

I hope they go 0-82 and then get the worst draft spot possible for being the worst team in the lottery.

Define bust? He was a 6th pick, had a devastating injury to rehab from and is on an awful team. Will he ever be an all star? I don't think so. Could be become someone like Tyson Chandler? A 12 and 10 guy who will block shots, get a few assists and steals? Sure.

Also, comparing him to guys taken ahead of him, Cody Zeller, Otto Porter and Anthony Bennett and a vast majority of that draft, does he get that label still?

I think he'll be a bust, as in we'll look back at that pick and say it was a horrible one.

Just my opinion

That whole draft, or a vast majority of it, will likely bust...

Not sure why you're bringing that up. Has absolutely nothing to do with my feelings on Noel busting.

That was my point. If he becomes Tyson Chandler, is that a bust for a 6th pick in a terrible draft? Heck, Tyson Chandler in that draft might end up the best player in the top 10...that was my point.

Yes it absolutely does, according to you:

Even if he sucks, it's not a horrible pick if all other options end up sucking too

Oh Jesus Christ. Semantics dude.

Noel is not going to be a good nba player. There, that better?

And besides, plenty of, what appears to be, good picks after the 6th pick.

Trey Burke, MCW, the Greek freak

All would have been better picks IMO.
