Kansas City is your AL Champion

Last time a team went undefeated into the WS, they got swept (07 Rockies), hopefully not this time because I don't want either NL team to win it.

Last time Royals were in the World Series, the network about to broadcast it was not around.

Same here. KC has been the team I've been rooting for since the start really hope they pull it off.

I remember the series fairly well. Was rooting for the Cards as I loved their speed and pitching. Vince Coleman stole about 110 bases but couldn't play in the World Series because he was ran over by a an automatic tarp.

The call at 1st base in the 9th inning in game 6....holy moses

I don't remember the 9th inning call, but I do remember the goofy tarp incident. That non typical baseball injury really hurt the Cards probably worse than the current natural baseball injury to Molina is hurting them, and it may be comparable if the Cards make it to the WS vs. the stealers.

It will take time for the generation of players who were not relying on the long ball to get all the way through the systems and start learing more contact at a level before they get to the minors and the wood bats.
...and better fundamentals and bat control. It is ridiculous the shifts that are employed against hitters nowadays.. You would think that every hitter who is good enough to make it into the majors would have enough bat control/ be able to bunt at a wide open side of the infield to get on base at a key moment or to start a needed rally.

Infielders should cover 2nd on a tag play like the Orioles do. Pence would have been out on the steal!

The look on his face says it all.

Not counting out him hitting a 3 run HR though to redeem.

You don't think they'll go to Casilla in the 9th?

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/has-a-team-like-the-royals-ever-made-the-playoffs/

They are the absolute exception historically, regardless of era. What we're seeing (8-0) thus far, is historical and there is something going on that we really can't explain. Call it divine intervention, call it luck, call it extremely good chemistry, whatever. However, I would venture to say that in most years, a team like the Royals will not only falter in the playoffs, but more than likely, NOT make the playoffs at all.

I think other teams will consider really constructing parts of their style in a similar fashion, but to try to copy exactly what KC has built won't happen. Also, many managers and coaching staffs would never be able to adjust enough to make it happen.

I don't think you can copy that defense.

I think you're also right Ironman. It would be very, very difficult to piece together some of the aspects of speed and defense the Royals have. The odds of drafting/developing them and/or acquiring them would be very unlikely. That's why I said it's almost the perfect storm.

You are old i fyou remember that series.

I do as well, most notably how they touted it the I70 (or whatever) series and there was a couple of horrible, horrible calls.
